i am starting to believe its a typical endorsers lie ! there are movie clips way down to 1974 but not even a ibanez on stand by so it seems so did our steve took the money and run ????? did he ever more than the promotionel 2622 photo shoot play on the thing??? i am starting to have my doubts!!! |

Here's Steve Miller playing a 2622. He's playing with Bobby Cochran who has his custom Cowboy. btw...does it matter if Steve actually played the guitar?? I guess if you purchased the guitar hoping it would sound like Steve Miller, then it would matter. Do you like the guitar? As far as I'm concerned, Bob Weir never played the so called 'Bob Weir' 2681. Bob's was a custom job with 3 pickups and completely different electronics. Regardless, the 2681 is still a fine axe. mk |

Ek...why do you care? I still have some hockey sticks that have Robert Gordon Orr's name on them...and, well, I'll just leave it at that. Does it change the axe for you? As far as Miller goes...I like my playin' a whole lot better than his. I hope you feel the same way too...a blues player from Wisconsin??? C'mon |

Michaelkaufman's right, Bob Weir never played the 2681 the way it came from the factory, but I still think mine sounds better than my Gibson Les Paul Custom that costs $3500, and it looks a lot cooler too with the vine inlays and stuff. Extremely nice guitars, those Ibanezes. Check out the guitar I built in the miscellaneous section. When I made it, I wasn't into Ibanezes, but it kinda looks like a Musician. |

guess youre right guys, but still those endorsers take the mickey out of those starters who are just starting out on the axe. off course he is in luck with the fact that you cant go wrong wirth an ibanez!!! but people like steve vai play the jem exectally in the state it rolls off the factorys belts! there are more players who stick to the axe they endorsed and dont use it as a cash cow! i would still like to see some intergriteit |

dont think many use em nowadays or am i mistaking? perhaps this is the only picture of steve and the 2622 besides the promo picture and it came about that when he sat in on the gig of the other guy ( bob weir?) and borowed his 2622 for that jam! who knows! |

Well I guess for every Steve Miller there's a George Benson! But, Ekkerman does have a point! I've got a 2622 and never seen any candid shots of Steve Miller using it. There is a Guitar Player interview from '78 where he talks about using the guitar live though. Cheers, Mark |

Regarding the picture, from Bobby Cochran's website: "In 1979, at the NAMM show in Anaheim California, Steve Miller Joined Bob Weir, Billy Cobham, Alphonso Johnson and Bobby Cochran To Debut the Ibanez Tama Allstar Band." Steve was instrumental in development of the electronics. The 2622 was the first Ibanez guitar with the EQ/Pre-amp. He said he used a 2622 live in an interview. You seem so cynical... If it makes you feel better, sell your 2622 and purchase a Clapton Strat. mk |

if you look at the back cover of the '77 artist catalog, he's onstage in that shot. can you hear the difference in tone? the only thing i can tell is a strat from a les paul. strat has a "thinner" tone. |

i wonder why he made the transition from a like he said great guitar wich is very versatile ( i know cause i got one !) to a strat. dont think he played the 2622 live much or at all , and i was just asking if anyone knew of recordings or video's of the man that we associate with the axe considering its his name and pic on the ads!!! ive played the strats myself and its nice for funky licks and s r v kinda twangy solo's but with the ibanez if youve got a strong back you feel like holding more guitar! could it all just be a fallic guy thing? |

I only associate the EQ with Weir...not Miller at all. And Cohran, who was very close to Weir's efforts (and vise versa) was a waaaaaaaaaaay bigger contributer to the tech dev of Ibanez Electronics R&D than any name Steve Miller might have offered. If you want to hear the 2622 style EQ, Weir played with it "everyday" for 6 - 7 years. If you want to hear it against a lead player, listen to Bobby Cochran around that time. All I see here Ek is that you are a HUGE Steve Miller fan, no? |
