Hi there, I am already a regular visitor of ICW but I have never posted a question before, so here goes: IO have a 1978 (by ser.no) artist in cherrywine finish. How do you discriminate between the different artist models. I basically don't know what I have; 2617-18 or 2619?? Can anyone help me? Check http://www.marktplaats.nl for (mediocre quality)pics, search ibanez vintage! Thanks |

Tef: I'd love to help you, but your link doesn't go to any specific guitar and there are 16 pages of Ibanez guitars when you do a search. Can you tell us the specific guitar to look at? Or upload the pictures here? |

Tef: It's a 24 fret 2618. These are fantastic playing guitars. Changed out bridge pickup and missing the cloud ornament. Otherwise, the cherry wine color is pretty rare. |

Lespaul: Ah, yes. I did not catch that. Probably splits that new HB next to the bridge. |

Seller states it is a phase switch. He also states it is a 1978 2619 by the way. 1978 might be try but it is obviously a 2618. |

OK 2618, THanks people!! How can you tell the difference? between the 2619 and 18? (this is also an educational site, right?) Any ideas on the price? I paid 650 euro for it 4 years ago, which is quite a lot, but you know how it goed when you fall in love... My love however has faded since then (also due to some major back problems) so now I'm thinking of selling it and getting a nice les paul copy instead... |

Tef, Difference is 22 frets and two three position mini switches (2619) vs. 24 frets and no switches (standard Les Paul cofiguration) for 2618. MK, I believe you are correct about that but this isn't one of them 24 frets 2619..... P@ul |

Also, MOP/Abalone block inlays vs. dot fretboard inlays and multi-ply body binding. |

Browsing further on this website I find catalogue scans of a 2619 with a single switch just like my guitar. Couldn't this be a 2619 after all?? BTW I'm selling it so if anybody is interested? Need money for some new purchases... |

Tef: Your's has dot inlays, that makes it a 2618. 2619s had block inlays. |
