I have removed 95% of the pickup and epoxy from one of the covers of a super 77. Jim Donahue has given me the correct epoxy to refill the pickup cover once i decide on a replacement. Now the hard part..... What pickup do i put in its place??? A bandmate insists on Dimarzio Evolutions...I am not so sure about that. I think something different. That guitar is ash on mahogany if I remember correctly. Let the tone gurus weigh in. I personally like the super 77 and super 88 sound, although the latter gets a bad rap in my opinion. |

Who about Super 80's, if you can find them. Will they fit? I'm wondering, because, I'd love to have a Musician with Super 80's. mk |

I will post some pics of the super 88 cover without the pickup in it. |

Michael I always thought Super 88s and Super 80s are identical except for the plastic cover!?! |

The pups in my '77 MC200 were inscribed "Super 70" and they certainly had a great sound to them. |

I thought I read that the Super 88's and Super 77's were higher-output versions of the Super 80 and Super 70 pickups. I really don't know how similar or different they are, however, I can say that my MC550 with Super 88's sounded very different than my 2619/AR300 with Super 80's. Of course, they were very different guitars... Can anyone compare 70's vs 77's and 80's vs 88's??? mk |
