Ebay Item #220132686180 Just read the serial number on the back of the headstock and you know it's from February 1977. But it still has the older fancy tailpiece and a harmonomatics bridge. The Flying Finger pickups are gone. And I can't see the rubber rings on the potmeter knobs. (???) For this moment, it can't read the last serial # digit, it looks like a 4 but could be destroyed on purpose. So for now it reads B77607* Here are the pics for the archives: back of headstock brass nut area fretboard brass switch cap and rhinestone body front heel neck area back rosewood switch cover Ginger |

Notice the heartshaped ring under the coilsplitter switch. And notice that there is only ONE coil splitter switch. Serial # L776230 has TWO Serial # D785948 has TWO installed at exactly the same spots and the switches look the same. These two have a Gibraltar bridge and tailpiece with cloud. So this early '77 seems to be a transition model. What would the original pickups have been? Indeed Flying Fingers or Super 70's? Historically interesting, but I think the newer ones are more versatile. Ginger |

This one was pretty modified. Lets just say we all know and respect the prior owner. I had an opportunity to take it off his hands for a more then fair price but passed due to the pickups and the rhinestones. Our friend did NOT put those on. Funny thing, I posted a real 1976 on Ebay. The 76 was the first year and is much different then the following years. If you read my auction, youll see I pointed them out. |

I copied all of your pictures, and there are indeed several interesting differences: - Gold IBANEZ LOGO Pickups with one row of rounded polepieces visible. (interesting for comparison with the pickups of the 2616 Artist jazzbox BTW: I would like to know what number is on the bottom of them); - Gold LES PAUL STOP TAILPIECE; - Gold tune-o-matic bridge (ST?) - and of course the usual numerological BIN, ending with the last 3 digits of the year it was built in. THERE IS ALSO AN ANNOYING ISSUE: "The new neck strap lock position is on the rear body and I took a photograph with a ball point pen to show the old position. The other hole on the bottom body is wear the strap lock was. As of now, there is only 1 strap lock on the neck spot." ON THE BOTTOM IS NOT ONLY A HOLE: THERE'S A BROKEN SCREW INSIDE! How is the new owner supposed to carry this guitar? Ginger |

Red My 2619 is a no serial number. Why assume 76 is the first year for the 2619? Ginger The stop tail cat number is 186G The Gibson style tune-o-matic on the early Ibanez guitars is a 323G Harmonic-O-Matic G stands for for gold of course. six |

Seems that Harmonic-o-matic just means that you get individually adjustable saddles. They use it for two different bridge shapes. http://www.ibanez.ru/info/catalog/1976-10/06.jpg and the same goes for some tailpieces: http://www.ibanez.ru/info/catalog/1976-10/01.jpg This only shows once again that it is indeed better to use catalogue numbers, thanks Six.
