They look like black speed knobs, but the 1978 catalog shows the PF200 with gold ones. Could these be authentic still, since it's a late '78 model (Oct.)? The ring around the pickup selector switch is also black. I think the knobs are original, they look like black suregrips to me. I also think the pickups are original too, but with the gold covers removed. Notice the 3 mounting holes? Unlikely somebody would change them different Ibanez pickups. Below is a picture from the 1978 catalog for the PF200 and it shows a single adjustment screw on each side of the pickup, not double screws on top. Your new guitar is one of the later ones with the really nice flamed tops and block logo. The three position mount is original. If you don't like them, those PUPS and three point rings will fetch some nice $ on EBay, defraying much of the cost of this guitar-you got a fantastic deal. I would however suggest you play this beast at maximum volume before you rip out those pups...I think you will be suprised and even reconsiter removing them ! The pickguard is screwed directly into the top and there is a little foam spacer that keeps the guard elevated.....Personally , with that nice top-I'd leave the guard off......   Munch Username: Munch Registered: 2-2001 Posted on Thursday, August 02, 2007 - 12:14 am:    Hi Chuck, I made a tracing of my PF300 pickguard for another member a few months back. I thought that looked like tortoise shell in the pictures I've found. Dave, there's no way I'm going to be able to remove those pups now that I know they're original. I just have to find some gold covers for them. The guy just shipped the guitar to me yesterday so I'll have it in about a week. I've said it before. In addition to the shortcomings listed in the auction, the corners of the neck pickup ring are broken, and one of the knobs is missing its rubber grip. Other than that, she cleaned up real nice. There is little to no fretwear at all, leading me to believe that this baby sat in its case for most of the past 30 years. Fine by me. She will be loved from now on. The pups are stamped Super 70. With the pickguard tracing from Mark/Munch (and blank stock on the way from Warmoth) and my search begun for the proper pickup covers, she should look perfect in a couple weeks. A crystal clear plexiglass guard would look nice. (I have 2 on my Aria Pro II TA-61 models, which are originals BTW). You would need only a small piece of plexiglass and Much's tracing. We used to get pieces of waste plexiglass out of the container of a plastic company in the neighbourhood when we were young boys. We made all kinds of things of it. It is glued with ACETONE. It tended to crack at the drilling holes. I might toy with the idea of getting some clear Lexan (you can get a 8x10 inch piece at the local hardware superstore for about $2 and it's virtually indestructable) but I'm keen to try my hand at reproducing the tortoise shell one too. Most importantly, you'll need high speed bits. Secondly, drill a pilot hole using a very small diameter bit and then use successively larger bits to enlarge the hole to its final size. If you're drilling through really thin PlexiGlas or if you want holes close to the edge, you may have to sandwich it *tightly* between two pieces of plywood and drill the holes through the wood and PlexiGlas sandwich. Then at high school the science teachers always talked about "perspex". And now I read Lexan... It all looks the same to me... You would have to explain the differences to me...
