I have a 2-wire V2 pickup that I want to convert to 4 wire operation for single, parallel and series use - as in an AR300 with the three position switch. Can anyone either direct me to a link, or alternatively provide here the colour codes and connections of such a 4 wire pickup? Thanks. |

You would need access to the wires that come from BOTH coils. I'm not familiar with the V2 wire colors, however, this can help: http://www.1728.com/guitar.htm mk |

Growler - I'm not even sure this is realistically possible. Gibson, for instance, produces both 2-wire and 4-wire versions of some of their pickups. The 2-wire versions go in at the factory. So, if you buy a brand new guitar and want to coil tap, you also have to buy a replacement set of pickups that are the exact same thing you just paid for in your brand new guitar only they have the 4-wire configuration. No, I'm not bitter. I said "realistically possible" because to change that pickup's configuration I would think you'd have to unwrap/rewrap it and that's a lot more trouble than it's worth. |

Thanks Peter and Michael. I've done this sort of fine wire work before on pickups. I'm an electronics engineer so it can be done; albeit fiddly. It's the colour coding that I'm looking for. Actually, I have'nt checked out that link yet.... |

No Ibanez specific info - it's the details of how to wire a switch which are important. You would need to determine which V2 wire is which and then apply the appropriate wiring diagram. btw...there are specific Ibanez wiring diagrams here: http://noahjames.com/vintagepage/wiring.html The problem is that I don't think you'll find the info you're looking for. mk |
