I've seen a large number of "Cimar by Ibanez" guitars hit eBay in the last couple weeks. A lot of them look to date from the mid-1990's or later, but this one has more of a Roadstar-style headstock to it. I'm getting highly suspicious of all this activity around Cimar. None of them seem to have a decent serial number we can look up. I just had a long email exchange with someone selling what they were advertising as a "1980" Cimar that was obviously a late 1980's (or even 1990's) model and that seller swears that the guitar was owned by a former Ibanez employee and that it is a "prototype" for the later CX models. Yeah, right. I also just grabbed (and I'm waiting for it to ship to me) a 1995-ish Cimar by Ibanez bass in the Roadstar vein. It cost me just $75 total for the bid and shipping, so I really just want it for the body (P-style) and maybe electronics. Maybe we need a thread in "Other Replicas" about "Cimar by Ibanez" to see if we can come up with any good production information? -Chuck |

I think Johns will move this thread to the Cool Contemporaries. |
