Ebay Item #160126256202 This is a crying shame. I bought this guitar on eBay in June. It was shipped Fedex and delivered but not signed for! Long story - insured and PayPal insured and guess what, the neck was broken in shipment. As I write this today, I do not have the guitar (shipped to seller who will not ship it back), do not have the money and cannot participate in the claim from Fedex as I am not the shipper. Upon shipping back to the seller, he indicates that Fedex further damaged the guitar. Today the seller informed me that he has given up in his quest for a claim from Fedex. Fedex claims that the shipment was not properly packaged - an truthfully it wasn't. I will attach pictures of the crack in the neck to anyone who thinks that they can fix it. (Assuming that I get the guitar back). Does anyone know if the parts are worth anything? |

Sorry to hear about that CJ When I was living in England, I had a fixed neck Tokai Les Paul turn up from California that was poorly packed. Someone must have been looking out for me as the guitar made it over withiout a scratch. I complained to the seller who stated that he had never packed a guitar for shipment abroad before. What difference that makes I still don't know. six |

Sorry to hear that, A couple of years back I won a '71 Antoria 1912 (330 style semi) on ebay and received it a week later...Seller had put bubblewrap round it (one turn) and gaffertaped a binbag over the top!!! How the thing ever managed to arrive unscathed is still a mystery to me...even the postie commented on the -poor packaging.....Maybe there are large numbers of guitar afficionados in the mail delivery trade.....Call in gentlemen! |

Since we're sharing horror stories... I received a guitar I won on eBay not too long ago. The seller taped a piece of cardboard to each of the two long sides of the hardcase and then wrapped the case in brown shipping paper. I'm not sure how but it arrived OK. |

I've fixed many in my day. It all depends on the break, if any peices are missing, finish, etc. I had a guy bring me an old 3 pickup SG Custom with a snapped peghead, and I repaired it & finished it in a "pre-aged" vintage yellowed white, then put all the original worn gold hardware back on it, and it was just beautiful! I did the finish in Nitrocel', and used an freeze - spray, to get it to check. Looked very cool! But, if you worry about collectable value, original finish...... it gets tricky. Get those pic's on here! |

Dave, what is a ballpark estimate on a complete refinish (whole guitar.) And.. do you take on that kind of work normally? |

Clever, So who has the guitar now? The original seller? Get the guitar back and get it to a luthier. I mean the whole thing sucks bad, but you might as well have the guitar! I'm assuming you haven't gotten your original money back, right? For the record, I've had good luck shipping acoustics with UPS ground track. They seem to take pretty good care of the packages. Of course, that's probably all depending on what gorilla they get throwing boxes around at the hubs. |

Chazmo, You got it, the seller has the fiddle and the money. He conveniently waited to diss me on the date that I could no longer give feedback on eBay. Paypal is a dead end also, they seem to only want to deal with issues that are easily resolved. My credit card has some protection but the chink in the armour is that I tried to get the shipment stopped or held as I knew that I was not going to be home when the item was delivered. For that matter, the item was on my porch 1200 miles away from me when I got the Fedex tracking number. The acceptance signature is illegible (i.e. the guy dropped it and left it at an unoccupied residence). the fault lies in the shipper, he didn't package it right. How do you get pictures into the forum? |

Was it shipped in a hardshell case? Your credit card protection should kick in here. I don't see what it has to do with you trying to have the shipment held at the FedEx office. If you have proof you shipped it back to the seller, that's all your CC company should need to charge this back to Paypal. Item not as described, case closed. |

Clever, as far as posting photos.... go to "formatting" on the left over here on ICW it tells you how to post photos you type \image then {} (The funny brackets (don't put any spaces between what I just told you to type. If I would have typed it exactly6 as it should be for you here, it would have asked me to browse for a photo to post so I can't type it exactly as you should so I will type it now with spaces, you leave the spaces out, should go like this : \ image { } and when you go to post it will look funny but then you see you will get a chance to "browse" for your photo on your computer , find it, choose it and then it will post or... send them to me I will [post them for you. I feel for ya dude. |

Hey, just catching up, & saw your post, Jack. Yeah, I got your mail & pics & replied right away. Haven't been on here lately. Had to make a trip from Alabama to Ohio to visit a sick friend who passed away while I was en route. Funeral was Tues. I'll forward my reply & if you don't get it, e mail me either at home howdavid@bellsouth.net, or work dave.howard@mobis-america.com. She's definately "fixable," but there are alot of variables in there. Check your mail, ok? Take care & I'll help if I can, DHC |
