Dear Collectors, I just received the Ibanez Musician bought through ebay (shown through the link below), and I do love it. I have a question about the two little black toggle switchs. They are 3-way switches. In the "up" position, it seems to be double coil, the "middle" position seems to be single coil. I don't know what the "down" position is though. In the down position (for whichever pick-up is selected), the guitar outputs a small "tinny" tone. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks Sunil http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1 &item=330154117567&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=014 |

It switches the coils of the humbuckers out of phase. So instead of generating waves that are completely in sync, the waves are shifted in time, relatively to each other (don't ask me how), producing a thinner sound. It was something someone came up with in the eighties but never really caught on. It results in a thinner sound than a humbucking sound, but doesn't have the punch of a single coil. So basically you end up with the worst of double and single coil elements. |

Try using the bridge pup in phase reversal in conjunction with the neck pup in HB or single. You may like it... mk |
