What have we here? It's a 1977 model (by the serial number), definitely 2619 (block inlays) but what has been done to the bridge/tail? That's not a stock bridge, correct? And besides the tail being non-stock and placed askew, I'm puzzled because I don't see the holes where the correct tail stop would have gone, and I see just one hole for mounting the cloud. Thoughts? -Chuck |

Could this guitar be similar to the one discussed previously: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/discus/messages/12 /14885.html -Chuck |

I may have answered my own question, since I found a picture in another thread of the "Russell" guitar referenced above: The cloude holes I can't see in my picture may be obscured by the strings. Plus, the bridge looks like it's original. Is it true that the cloud/tailpiece is one piece and not two? -Chuck |

Chuck..Its prettty obvious to me that this guitar has a replaced stop from the original (which would be the one pc version) I thinking that the top two holes are obscured by the replacement stop (a vintage Ibanez chrome part). Its a very poor replacement too because the strings dont really line up perfectly ! |

I offered the guy $400 for it, and I think that's generous. Another exact model (replaced pups, but an original stop) went on eBay recently for $510. He says he's had other offers. If he calls back, great. If not, great. -Chuck |

Another question occurs to me: Are the knobs original? Or would there have been velve-tunes? |

Chuck, the knobs could be original...$400 would be a steal for this guitar...swap out the EMG's for S 80's and slap on a vintage bridge and yer good to go.. |

That's what I'm thinking, Dave, but there would be two gaping holes where the old tailstop was screwed in. I could fill them, but it would always be a player, not a collectible. He hasn't contacted me, so he probably got $500 or more for it by now. |

Bump to ask a question: The flying fingers pups shown on the 2619 above. Super 70's or Super 80's? -Chuck |

Knobs look original Chuck. Not Velve Tunes mate. I think you're thinking of "Sure Grips". "Velve Tunes" were the tuners. six |

The guy still has the one at the very top of this thread for sale, and if I can get the tailpiece and pups cheaply enough (I know, the pups will not be cheap) then I might decide to put this thing back together. The hardest part at that point will be filling the holes from the other bridge. I'm still thinking about it. |

Chips, you are right..only Super80's (a.k.a. Flying Fingers) have that engraving. Other difference is adjustable polepieces, Super70's have, Super80's don't.. |
