This guy is a bit over-enthusiastic in his description and there are some amazing inaccuracies in there too.

"The only issue is the pickguard which I'm not sure is original. Looks better without it anyway...."

How can we know what pickguard the guy is talking about?

And even with that, the price is still about $600.- too high IMO. Remember what our student got for his when he sold it to pay his college money. In my memory that was 15 something.
I'd say 15-18 for a good one.

Dave, you're the man, what do you say?

Nice guitar, stupidly optimistic price....any chance this is the same guitar as the craigs list one ? Same Vintage goofy Gibson purple case.....

Ginger...Its a nice guitar no doubt..early one too, but $2,200 ? I don't think so. I'm thinking this guitar will move in the $1,000-$1,300 range-even with the vintage Gibson case. I think it will be a couple of years yet before the 2405's break the $2,000 mark and even then it will be the Cherry or Burst finish.....

Just a guess, but where else are the leaves falling now, only the northern climates, they are in northern Michigan. My guess is this is the CL guitar. I offered the guy 700 for it and he wrote back that it was already sold.

Huhu... I was actually thinking 1500 + or - 20% because of that one I just mentioned, so that's actually between 1200 and 1800 and that's WITH the original pickguard of course.
I think the seller is hoping for a European buyer. But our European members shop on our own market, because they can hold the instruments in their hands before they buy. We hop in the car and drive a few hundred kilometres to see them with our own eyes, like Lieven from Belgium did with the CA in Eindhoven, because we're not talking peanuts. I personally drove about 200 km (that's vice versa) last sunday night to pickup a short scale [31"] semi acoustic Artstar bass (my last hope for being able to play the bass without pain. I'll write about it in the bass section soon, but first I'll ask the seller for some pics over the e-mail, because they have been removed already and I hadn't copied them yet).

The Craigslist one is still listed at $700.00 OBO in the Minneapolis, MN Craigslist as of this morning. The listing also say's it is located in Minneapolis. Also the CL one in Mpls. has a pickguard attached. (Not an original scroll pickguard). I think they are different guitars. That shoots the ebay listing information "This is a very rare model thats in fact so rare, you may never see another again; especially in BLACK" :-)

I can see 5 things in his description/price that are way out of line. maybe, it's not on purpose but still... it's way off base.

Dave...my thoughts exactly when I saw this auction last night. The CL one IS sold (confirmed, I had reached a tenative agreement on it with him 2 days ago, had to go to sons football game, came back it is was sold...I figure someone went over his asking amount, or I got jumped on during 3 hours I was away from PC...need some mobile technology these days with all the Ibby fiends! Obviously buyer was near the orig seller.)...and now this one pops up on fleabay immediately after? Same case even??! Same "not original" pick grd...pretty sure new owner is trying to flip it for sure...at a crazy price...but you never know these days.

Small Ibanez world, eh?!

If I had a shot at a CA at the CL price you'd better believe I'd buy it and have it on eBay that night, though maybe not for that much. I've bought a guitar from a guy (an old Silvertone electric) for $100 one evening. Took some pictures, posted it on eBay, set a BIN of $300 and went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning it had sold. Ka-ching!

I've got $$$ in my PayPal account right now that has come exclusively from buying on CL and selling on eBay.

I thought I would do that, but I fell in love with the Maxxas... Bought for $350 wouldn't sell now for less than $1500!

I love Craigslist.

I don't doubt that Jcmc64 is likely right. I should have tried to talk my wife into letting me scoop it up but after I told her that was what I was going to do with my Maxxas, I am pretty sure she would have just given me "the look"... you guys all know that look! :-)

The BIN price has been reduced.... Probably still a little high but much closer to reality.

Not without the certainty that you get the original pickguard. This is NOT going to work. I say he has to go further down, and then I mean $400-700.
Or he must show us an original pickguard...
which still hasn't happened yet...

He's confirmed that it is a les paul pickguard, not the original. He also says he has a local offer on it and that if I want to bid I should do so right away. Well, I'm not bidding anyway.

Look at the CL ad to see original PG...!!!

I'd be shocked if he got that BIN price.

Auction over at $1750.00 BIN price.

Not bad if it was the Mpls. one. $1000.00 profit in 2 days!

Huh???
It goes to Oz for 1961.69 AUD

I think this guy thinks he gets free shipping to Oz,
but it says: Shipping costs: Free
Expedited Flat Rate Shipping Service
Service to United States
Ships to: Worldwide

So that's AUD 1961.69
PLUS SHIPPING!!!

Clearly misunderstood.
I think we will see that one back.

Ginger:

The last sentence in the description says: FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING WITH BUY IT NOW ONLY !.

The winner used BIN, so I would say he should be getting it shipped to Australia for free.

Johns, I missed that...
How much is that $150.-? $200.-? $250.-? and I see shipping insurance is also included in the shipping costs.

And with the current exchange rate, he's probably very satisfied with this deal.

But it's still a lot of money to me...
for an instrument he didn't even feel in his own hands before he bought it...
