I was under the impression that the AR300's didn't appear until 1980. I have one of each, but I find the 2619 more desireable due it's thinner body and ergo lighter weight.

I'd say that the seller has "wrong model description".. Definitely a 2619 Artist, this one.."higher" neck joint (notice the placement of front pickup), smooth heel, older style peghead "fleur-de-lis" inlay and Super80's. Also old style tailpiece. :-)

its a 2619... If I remember correctly, they didnt start producing AR300s til the early 80s, and the seller says its a '78. And i have a 2619, so its almost an exact match as the pic.

I have downloaded copies of the 1978 and 1979 catalogs. The AR300 is shown in the 1979 catalog, along with all the other "AR" numbers. The 1978 catalog still uses the 26.. numbering. More telling may be the headstock medallion shape. The one in question looks like the 2619. Again, from the catalogs:

Wow,
I didn't realize the "fleur-de-lis" inlays were different. I love my '82 AR300, but the additonal weight afforded by the wider body seems to cross that threshold of comfort for me.

"It's like deja vu all over again!"

You guys (sans Fox) should utilize the Search engine against this site... it might keep you from stabbing in the dark a bit.

I'll give you a hint tho...for ~ one year there IS a skinny (and long) AR 300 (100 & 500 too) that pretty much matches the 2619
