Hi there, board newbie here. I picked up a '76 Les Paul and was wanting to swap out the pickups as the ones are a little quiet and microphonic. First, would they be Super 70's or Super 80's? Second, how much roughly would they be worth? |

Hey Gareth, is that the Custom you have? I "think" that they're Super70's, going from the specs of the mid 70's LP copies, the later original design guitars (Artist/Iceman/etc) seem to have Super80's, then there's a change back to the Super70's in the early 80's. Though I'm sure someone'll put me right on this one. What they're worth is that age old question. They're worth what someone'll pay for them is the stock answer! Best advice would be to do a search on eBay (especially on ended items), and see how they do there. Any more Flatlands gigs coming up? |

Haha, you pop up everywhere dude. I didn't realise you were an Ibanez man too. Yeah, it's the custom I use. I've popped the bridge pickup out and it has Spuer 70 engraved on the back (which I probably should have done in the first place)and ink stamped '16305', and someone has already emailed me about them. I saw a set on EBay US for $200 but I doubt I'll get that for them. No more Flatlands gigs for a while, we're concentrating on writing and recording an album at the end of the year. Let me know if you're playing Sheffield any time soon. |

That's me! I could say likewise! You didn't see that thread I had in the Buy/Sell/Trade section on the Mat board then (and the one on here as well!)? I did think they'd be Super70's if they were the originals. TBH IMO, you'd be better off keeping the original pickups if you're thinking of changing them, if you ever sell the guitar, swap them back, it'll be worth more to the collector. FWIW. Cool, look forward to hearing that! We've no gigs lined up at all yet unfortunately. I think that we need to get the demo out to get the name "known", and hopefully, get some gigs off the back of that. |

Cheers but the guitar is pretty dinged up and has had a few parts changed on it already so it's probably worthless to a collector, whereas it's my main workhorse. Let me know when you get a demo sorted. |
