Do these graphics from Mark Hartman's Vintage Ibanez Guitar site (http://vintageibanez.tripod.com/main.html) look familiar? Unless these shirts are being sold in collaboration with Mark and Harry/Hasy, I'd say someone in Pennsylvania has some explaining to do. |

Imagine that. People using graphics from other websites without permission. I'm shocked. |

All kidding aside. Hasy can contact eBay to let them know the guy is selling shirts without proper permission. It's called theft. He can contact the seller also and tell him to cease and desist. But first, you might do some detective work to find out if he's selling the shirts via any other venues, such as cafepress.com, and make sure he stops selling there also. Or, you can negotiate a fee... |

hey guys. those images look like the basis for what's on my new shirts, but they've been modded a bit, i don't know if that still counts as theft. maybe by the spirit if not the letter of the law. is anybody else putting out shirts with these most excellent logos on them? they are fine. i wonder too, are they from a catalogue, were they designed by the webmasters, or are they property of ibanez? all i know is these are dang fine shirts and if there are no legal or ethical quanundrums to sort out, this chap is providing a service to humanity in getting them out there. sorry if i'm being an ignoramous. i'll no doubt be apologizing to somebody shortly... meanwhile, cheers. hope you're w/e is excellent. b. |

The brand name Ibanez is owned by Hoshino. If they are not authorized t shirts which I believe they are not then there will be a problem with this guy selling them if they catch wind of it. |

There are a bunch of ways to look at this situation. Legally, you can't take other people's graphics or pictures and sell them as your own. Even if you rearrange them into another composition and/or convert them to another media (t-shirts vs. website images). While this seller may feel that he is creating "original" designs...he is stealing images from their rightful owners. Exactly how Harry/Hasy and Mark Hartman got their images is irrelevant. Taking your own pictures of guitars and using them for commercial profit is fine. Using a company's logo or other trademark, without permission, is not. Lifting pictures from a catalog is somewhat tricky. Technically, Hoshino owns the copyrights to all the words and images that they produce for supporting the sale of their products. They "allow" certain usages of these words and images and are profited by way of advertisement that leads to brand awareness and increased sales. They win, their dealers win and the Ibanez consumer wins. What about old catalogs with guitars that are no longer available? It gets fuzzy because technically, Hoshino still owns the rights to the images, but who is harmed? In fact, the free advertising helps build brand name recognition and increases Hoshino/Ibanez sales. So, the rightful owner often turns a blind eye to the situation and chooses not to exercise it's rights and force a "cease and desist". Who wins? Directly: the seller of the t-shirts; indirectly: Hoshino and it's dealers. Let's say that Mark and Harry/Hasy created their images from pictures they legally own (self-created or granted permission). Who wins when this seller sells a t-shirt? Are the rightful owners of those images being compensated? If not, then this seller has not learned his legal and moral obligations to others. |

that makes sense to me johns, well said. i'm an amateur photographer, when i'm not spanking a plank - aren't we all these days - and i have hundreds of images posted around the web mainly to show off and hopefully to bring some enjoyment to those who view them. i exult in the thought of someone liking something i've seen and shot. so if somebody puts one on a shirt, makes a poster, and profits from it, i don't really care - but i do appreciate it when they contact me first and ask. it's just common courtesy in my view. however it would probably be very different if i was making a living as a photographer. otherwise, use away. i don't have a problem with it, and if the law says i should have a problem with it, then 'the law is an ' as the old saying goes. of course i speak only for myself. i sicerely hope that credit is given where due, especially if that image by harry and hasy is their creation. (it is now my desktop wallpaper too.) isn't it ironic that we're talking about an image of the infamous 'law suit' les paul!! i find that hilarious. cheers ibanezites. |

Talajuha: That link doesn't take you to the new homepage with the Pineapple Strat, not the 2675 graphic that was "borrowed" for the t-shirt. Is the 2675 images still available? |

Johns, Guitarwhisperer asked Hasy's site and I still believe I gave the right URL (the site of Hasy inter alia). The picture in question is there as a link (thumbnail) to ibanezcollectors.de . Juha |

Juha: Sorry, my words got messed up in that last message. It should have read: "That link takes you to the new homepage with the Pineapple Strat, not the 2675 graphic ..." Your link to Hasy's site is correct and Blondax's is also correct to the 2675 graphic image. |

Yeah, but my mommy picked them back up for me. I've always wanted to use the word "bloke", and I figured now's my chance. |

You can substitute "Guy" for "Bloke" in just about any conversation you care to have from this day forward. I grew up in the East End of London so "Bloke" is very common in that neck of the woods. "That Bloke" "Some Bloke" "He's a nice Bloke" Go for it! six |

"Geezer" or "Mush" can be also substituted, for a bit of colour & variety. Jon. |

"Old geezer" is a common expression in the US. I always liked the word "punter". But I don't think that's exactly the same as "bloke". I was hooked on Lovejoy when it made it's way to the US, years ago. They used that term a lot. |

This is getting wildly off-topic! "Punter" is usually used to describe somebody who can be parted from their cash - hence its use by the likes of Lovejoy! Great series, that was. J. |

"Punter". That's exactly what most of us here do on ebay. Bloke - you can also use "Top Bloke". For instance, if you're recommending a good car mechanic. "He's a top bloke" six |
