We've already seen some of the seller's other items. They're nice, but also priced high. mk |

Wow, black with a flight case. This will be interesting. I wonder if it will end up going overseas? |

This guy is stacked. He should change his eBay I.D. to "Flightcase". Too bad he's so ambitious |

If you buy a "decent" LP from that era, you got to pay the double amount of money! I like to look at it from that point of view!! They look so gorgious in black, could buy it just for the colour. Holmis63 |

The seller also had the Brownburst 2670. He has/had an impressive collection. I'm a bit surprised about the pricing difference between the 2622 and the 2619. A black 26xx artist in that condition is far more rare than an AV 2622. I'm real tempted to jump on the 19, even at that price. js |

Yeah, that is tempting. And the neckjoint looks like new, no laquer crack or other issues as far as one can see! |

I think that is a 2619, smooth heel, super80:s, the old inlay on the headstock, thin body, gold plated cavity covers.... Holmis63 |

...which are ALL appointments of the first AR line released in late '78. I have a hard time believing you've missed the plethora of discussions on that year's Artist models as you've been out here for quite some time. ps...too bad about the knobs on this one... |

Strings: yes, I agree. As far as I'm concerned, 1st generation AR300 = last generation 2619. mk |

Well, obviosly iīve missed the plethora of discussions regarding that years Artists. Iīve always considered the thick body, not that smooth heel, super58:s and V2:s, the new headstock inlay... to be signs of an AR Artist. You learn something new everyday!! Holmis63 |

And if, 1st generation AR300 = last generation 2619, you canīt make distinction between the two Artist models that year? Is that right? Holmis63 |

According to the catalogs, the 2619 ended in 1978 and the AR300 started in 1979. As far as I know, the late 2619's and early AR300's (until mid 1980) were the same. At that point, the transition was in full swing. Maybe Dave_G can confirm...??? mk mk |

Holmis, these "transition"models could share old and new features, or be completely "old", for example I guess that every AR 400 has thin body, smooth heel and Super 80-pickups, there are several AR 500s with Super 80's and so on..Black 300-500 Artists are very rare btw.. |

OK, thanks for the info! I own a october ī80 ar100 and a ī82 ar500 and they have all the "new", post transition features. Thatīs why iīm interested in one of those pre transition artists, especially in black, a black 2622 would be nice! I also own a ī77 Bob weir that has this thick and fat tone from the neck super80! That one have almost all the features of a 26xx but not the mahogany body that would take the edge of the trebly and harch bridge super80! Well, you canīt get it all, or maybe you can?? Holmis63 |

Holmis, I have not been able to find out the number of black 2622's at all, however black AR 500's exist, there were 7 such made in 79 and 46 in 80.. I think that in those "higher number" artists the wood is not up-to-standards, and that is why they have been finished in opaque black. A great "rescue colour" to hide mis-coloured or otherwise visually not excellent wood. |

Fox, have you ever actually seen a black ar500? Are any photos around? Anywhere? I would jump all over one of those if given the opportunity. How's your ar5000 doing? |

Partial pic of a black AR500. I know there are more pics somewhere. I think Dave_G has a black AR500. http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/discus/messages/12 /3283.html mk |

Lowered the price again as well. Still more than I would pay, but all the changing of pricing (and that fact it isn't an auction at all) has put me off this one altogether. When he relists it he should just set a re3serve and start it at a dollar. |

I agree. An AR500 has to be a smokin' axe to behold. I asked Dave_g if he had one or knew of one available when I bought the 2700 from him a while back. MK: I had done a search on ICW not too long ago to find other pics of black AR500 but only found the same thread that you listed above. A full shot of the guitar would be great to see. |

Yes, that price changing and the fact that he spy on this site got me of the hook too! There is/was a 2622 out on the bay too and that one has a lower BIN price, the fact that it is black doesnīt motivate a higher tag than a 2622! Holmis63 |

Dave, I'm glad you mentioned that about the purfling on the 2619 because... the last few I've seen haven't had it so I was kinda wondering if I was mistaken about the model. I guess, from your statement, that it was just the early ones that had it. Why would they stop it? It looks great. So.... there's over 80 black ar500's out there?! Gotts have one. Just gotta. That's a guitar I'd get myself in trouble over financially. They're all nice though... CS, AV, Black would be so interesting to see. And own. Should have one of each! Everyone should. P.S. - Dave, how's your ar5000 repair job coming along? Any photos? Will it be done by the time you get your new one? Did you ever do anything further with the axe that got lost and found it's way home? |
