I own an Ibanez Model 2471 that was in perfect shape. I packed it up safely in its case and went away to college. 4 years later I opened up the case and found that the gold plating on most things was corroded as well as the strings rusting. After researching, I found out that the cellulose in the pickguard breaks down and causes a corrosive gas to be created. So now I am looking to fix everything up again to its original glory. I am looking for replacement parts or places where some of the poriginal parts can be re-plated. The pickup on it is a neck mount and said Super 70 on the back at one time. Anyone know where I can get parts from? I really do want to get an acrylic pickguard though to prevent this form ever happening again. Any help would be appreciated! |
