Help me determine the value of 2617

Author Message   Dominic Username: Dominic Registered: 11-2007 Posted on Monday, November 26, 2007 - 6:18 pm:    Hey everyone - I am looking to thin out my guitar collection and have a couple Ibanez guitars that I'd like to get your opinions on what they are worth before putting them up for sale; 1. 1977 2617 Artist (ash), very good condition, purchased from "Eyebonez" Mike Graves about 6 years ago. It has a hard case - I doubt it is original. One issue - it is not completely original...the prior owner had swapped the stock pickups for a pair of Carvin pickups and installed a cut / boost switch. I bought this guitar to use live and wasn't worried about the originality at the time, but I do recognize that this makes the guitar less desirable. On the other hand, I played this guitar side by side with several other Artists at Mike's house - and the Carvin pickups are much clearer than the Ibanez. The guitar can also get cleaner and dirtier than a stock model. 2. AW100CE cutaway acoustic with Fishman system. I purchased this guitar new in 1999 from Sam Ash and it is in excellent condition. I also bought a top of the line hard case for it (about $100 if I remember correctly). These were the "hand made" in Korea models with grover tuners, engleman spruce top, mahogany back, sides, and neck + rosewood fret board and bridge. At the time, this was the best sounding acoustic guitar for under $500 period (IMHO). 3. I also have a mid - '70s Ibanez Tele (no name on the head stock) also from Mike Grave's collection. It sports an outrageous maple quilt finish and more "spank" than most Fenders...not looking to sell this one, but curious to hear what you all think it is worth. Question is how much percent? 20? 30? I think it's best to read EUROS for Dollars, put that in the currency converter and look how much dollars you must pay for so many EUROS and then you're about right for the value in Dollars at this moment. If you do it right you should then subtract the shipping cost of USA>Europe, because a European prospect takes that into account as well. That keeps the net price a little lower, so that it can stay in the USA. It's a bit more complicated now than when the Euro and the Dollar were about 1:1.
