Just picked up a 1979 PS10. Looks to me like the volume/tone knobs are replacements. Anyone know where I can get the authentic knobs?

Blackstrat, there was just a set on ebay. The sellers name is risque_business : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=47076&item=7314999052 He implies in his listing that he has others. Its worth an email at the very least. Also, you can check with Orval on this site or at www.mr-ibanez.com. He has a great selection of NOS and used parts for vintage Ibanez guitars. Finally, If I may be a bit forward, you can get the missing pickguard replaced at KAMN guitars: www.kamnguitars.com This guy offers aftermarket replacement parts for PS-10s. I've dealt with him and he's a good guy to deal with. I too needed a replacement pickguard for an '80 PS-10 and it fits like a glove. Good luck with your new catch. They're great guitars. js |

JS, Thanks for the info. By the way, I got my replacement pickguard today and I did get it from KAMN. However, it seems as though the bracket that came with it isn't long enough. In other words, when I screw in the bracket to the bottom of the guitar, the long part that attaches to the pickguard almost lays flat on the body of the guitar. Did this happen to you? Because of this, the nut that attached the pickguard to the bracket hits the body of the guitar. My guitar already has a flaw there, but I'd hate to make it worse. Is this typical with these guitars? And oh yeah, they are awesome guitars. I had a PS10-2 a few years ago, and it couldn't touch this one. blackstrat |

You may want to see if you can increase the angle of the bracket slightly to get it up off the body. I don't know if its typical of these guitars, but the nut that holds my pickguard to the bracket is actually bit too long. I took a grinder to mine to shorten it up so it wouldn't rest against the body. I agree about the PS10-II. I had one a while back and wasn't impressed. I sold it about a year ago and finally picked up an 80 PS-10 a few months ago and there's no comparison. Welcome aboard and good luck with the guitar. js |

Thanks JS! Happy to be here! I'll try to bend the bracket a little. I think I'll also try shortening the nut a little as well. Thanks again. |
