Hi, this being my first post, I though I would introduce my family to you folks as a beginning:
NEWEST ADDITION:
Found this recently in a guitar center, hanging on the wall catching dust. For a workhorse guitar that's 25 years, this instrument is in amazing condition and someone loved it dearly. There's the tiniest bit of wear on the third fret, g string, the obvious buckle rash and one ittle chunk out of the heel that's the size of a lady bug, but other than that, perfect. This guitar is the reason I love Ibanez so much. A buddy had one of these when I was in high school and man I loved that guitar. I probably paid too much for this guitar at $500 but to me it was worth it, with a complete strip down and clean, this guitar would look new. Pretty hefty.
Learning the tonal qualities now, it has great Paul tone, but I am finding the pick ups get pretty muddy if I drive the distortion too much, a la rectifier. The pickup selector is funky going to the bridge position, on again off again. I opened the back for the toggle and it was full of sawdust, had never been opened in 25 years. Will get it to tech for cleaning shortly, just enjoying it right now.
This wonderful guitar was an auction won on eBay and is in immaculate condition. NO FRET WEAR, all electronics are clean and smooth. All original cosmo hardware and edge trem, pups are original too. Very few dings, have this tuned down a whole step for crunchy behaviour. Red is metallic and sharp, very little buckle rash. Just missing the trem cover on the back. Previous owner had uranthaned the neck and it was this sickly yellow, glopped on. I pulled the neck and brought it to a satin finish and re-shimmed. Plays amazing, just one dead spot so a knowledgeable soul with a file could help.
This is the best guitar I have to play, the maple neck is down right amazing. Not a bad spot and it's gone through the wringer. It has had the trem lock screw fix AND snapped headstock repairs done to it but it won't die. There's a divet the size of a dime on the front and the upper horn is so stripped that the strap lock is on the back of the guitar. There's a JB in the bridge, stock everywhere else, cosmo hardware, lo pro edge (best trem on the planet). I track every solo with this, it plays better that the 750 above and only cost $250 though I have to say it looks like some ran this guitar over in the case. |
