Made in September 78. Smooth heel, pearloid tuners, all original including well corroded bridge.

It is in very good condition except for the bridge which is quite corroded, and pickup covers that are so-so but not as bad.

Anybody got a spare gold tone Gibralter bridge?

Thought so myself. I stopped buying heavy guitars that hurt my back awhile ago but have since got a 2640 and then this one, both good deals I couldn't pass on.

Hi Ace!

Great guitar! Congratulations!
I have got a NOS (still in the original package!) gold Gibraltar bridge for ya, (genuine Ibanez part!) including two original studs. Not the slightes idea what I might ask for this item, but you make the first move: what d'ya think is a fair price to pay for it?
I have a picture for you here:

Harry:

I think you uploaded the wrong picture. That's the wide Harmon-o-matic bridge, not a Gibraltar I.

However, I could use this on my '77 2617. I'll email you.

Hi John

Sorry, my mistake. I thought this was a Gibraltar......that proves I might think I'm somewhat of an Ibanez expert, but I guess this only counts for the seventies copy-era...I'm not that much "into" the own designs of Ibanez that I immediately saw the difference...
Is the Gibraltar bridge that Ace needs somewhat smaller (more narrow) than?
I'll be waiting for your mail!
Kind greetz,
Harry

The 2617 came yesterday. It seems to have been neglected for a long time. The guitar is fine but was very dirty. Spent last night and whole day today cleaning it. Everything came out ok except the bridge is quite bad. Oh yes, it's heavy at 9 lb. 14 ozs.

My favorite feature of the 2617 is the purflings, fancy but not too loud.

How about a custom gold or silver MOP knob? Hummm perhaps abalone?

As you guys probably know that I have been trying to find a gold tone Gibralter bridge for the 2617. Well, I have news, both good and bad. Good news is, I found a guitar store here in Reno has three gold ones and a chrome one to sell. Bad news is, they want $80 for the gold and $75 for the chrome. I bite the bullet and bought a gold one, almost $86 with tax. Ouch.

Ace, divide the $86 by all the years of enjoyment you'll have and.... it's worth it. Nice axe.

Considering the prices some of the NOS bridges fetched on Ebay recently, I'd say $86 is a bargain. Great find, congrats!

I guess you're right. I did get the guitar at a very good price and $86 is definitely better that an eBay source.
