I found many priceless information at this Discussion Board - thanks to all of you. Now my questions: Today I'm going to take a look at Ibanez LP Custom made in 1977 (according to owners info). Have Ibanez produced at that time LP Custom copies with set neck? What wood were used for top? (birch, maple) What pickups were originally installed in? Should it have serial number on the headstock? The woods used were maple for the tops and mahogany for the bodies, with maple necks. The pickups may have been Super 70 or Super 80s. Yes it should definitely have a serial number on the back of the headstock. I have one of these too and mine is a great guitar! Careful: Ibanez also had a sunburst set-neck Les Paul model with an arched top (not carved), which means that there are hollow chambers between the thin top and the body. That makes the guitar sound differend from the typical Les Paul sound; it's not as warm, but more "bity" and the risk of feedback is much higher. You can hear the difference between an arched top and a solid carved top simply by knocking on the top with your finger. If it's a solid top Les Paul you won't regret buying it! A bit depending on the price, of course: these solid tops normally go for 500 to 600 US dollars, sometimes even more. So if you can get it for around 400 bucks I'd say: don't think twice!) Set neck, solid top, serial number, no custom trapezoids on the front of the neck, archaic Ibanez logo, brown sunburst color. The original pickups were replaced with PRS Dragon pickups and tuners were replaced too. Anyway the guitar sounds extremely fat and good I love the sound! If it cost 400 or 600 USD I would definetely go for it. But the guy wants 1000 EURO! Wow! 1000 Euro, and on top of that I suppose there would be the shipping costs etc? That's way, way too much. Maybe he will come back to you with a more reasonable price once he has noticed that nobody will pay that much for an Ibanez LP set neck, no matter how good the guitar is.
