it didnt sell, its a relist. notice the shipping charge, actual shipping on this case would be about $15 by fedex ground. i offered to buy it from this seller if he would ship it at a reasonable rate. he said that it would really cost him $80 to ship it and he would cover the rest. ya, right. another case of ebay shipping charge ripoff.

You really think it'll be 15 dollars to ship via fedex ground? I have one of those cases and they're heavy as a mofo.

The cheapest way to ship it is with the post office...less than $20 coast to coast

Ah well... I figured Bobzilla might want to pick this up for his MC500. Even if the shipping costs are inflated... they still seem to be listed infrequently.

Guys,
Would my 2616 Artist fit in that or is it too fat?The body is about 3 5/16".It looks like it should but I don't know the GB specs and don't need to take a chance on a fit that's too tight.

the only thing that fits is the small bodied gb10.
i used the fedex estimator for ohio to kansas and it was $11. so another 4 can get it to the coast.

The seller claims that he is going to have a UPS store do the packing and from my experience, that is costly.

Bob - It looks like the identical dimensions of my flight case for my MC 400. I'm assuming the seller doesn't know his case from his elbow. I could be wrong... it has happened.

If you pursued it, I could measure my interior to see if it matches.

Regarding the cost of shipping:

When I sold my MC500 (hardly a light-weight), shipping it in the flight case from Boston to Philly was $17.70 via UPS.

I had cervical operation a few years ago and for about three months in 2001, I shipped all kinds of goods by using UPS Shops to do the packing for me and they are expensive. I'm not trying to defend high shipping fee, I'm just saying that there are different reasons for people to charge higher than normal "Shipping Charge". To apply an amount usually charged by "young and healthy" sellers across the board may not be fair to older persons. Buyer should just look at the total cost for the complete purchase transaction and decide if it is acceptable instead of getting all excited about a portion of the cost.

I am kind of sensitive about this because I was "handicapped" for a while and have sympathy towards those who are no longer strong and full of energy.

Yeah... I think we could go off on a tangent on the subject of eBay sellers gouging on shipping costs.

Anyway, I started this thread to alert those looking for an Ibanez flight case, that one was on eBay.

Hopefully, you all will think it's too much and not watch the auction, and I'll pick it up for a cool hundred bucks....

rockon

Cheers!

Actually, I'm comparing the two... it does look a bit deeper and a slightly different cut than my flight case...

Hey, Orval ,I don't appreciate you telling people that I rip people off, I told you that I don't have the facility to pack stuff, and that even if I bought the stuff it would still cost me 30 bucks to pack it, and that is what UPS cost me. and I did lower the shipping cost.
If you have a problem with me then you call me, don't hide behind an e-mail. I'm just an old retired Marine, trying to get my stuff into someones hand that will use it, I'm have not ripped anyone off.

something tells me the mc500 would be moving around a bit in here. I do have the original Ibanez green interior case for my mc500nt. Now... will this case fit the mc500? Does anyone know for sure? and.... p.s. - maybe "ripoff" is a bit too strong of a term. it implies "intent." maybe, just maybe the seller is quite honest but unaware of certain things. that's all. and... sometimes I tack on maybe an extra dollar or two on top of actual ship costs because of my time, efforts, packing materials, etc. etc. Well, on the surface, $40 is a bit much for shipping but I am sure there's more to it than the cut-and-dried ship cost indicated.

hi,

what is the problem about that case?
I can not believe, that more than 20 icw-members talk about an old guitar-case in the vintage-topic!?? what about that case? ok its from ibz. have you ever been told "wow, what a nice vintage and rare guitarcase from ibz" and it is just for 70,-- dollars + shipment??? why dont ya go to a store and get yourself a new or used case that fits and secures the axe?

ok, maybe I m just a little jelous, cos I d like to have infos about a VERY RARE Axstar-Tele, and just one of you reacted. I wonder if you dont see an axstar as a REAL ibz, or if its less important than an old beautiful vintage ibz-guitar-case?

...please forgive me my speech....

stationc........... you must take into consideration that we've all been standing in front of loud guitar amps for many many years. It dislodges the brain to a certain extent and causes "ibanezcaseus dimentius" ... a very well know disease in medical circles...in which just the mention of an old Ibanez guitar case causes drooling and ramblings amongst those impaired by the disease. I am sure you understand. One such impaired member actually went into seizures and developed a permanent twitch at the mention of an old case.... about 6 months back. He is not allowed to actually look at vintage Ibanez guitars anymore, it is feared that it would cause him to have a stroke and be rendered completely useless.

Plus...correct me if I'm wrong somebody....it's an original flight case, heavier duty than your average hard case and is very nice to have and lets you sleep better at night if you travel frequently with your guitars.Airports and their staff are not a very guitar friendly enviroment

sorry again,
sometimes people (even me) forget to think before writing and try to see it from a different point of view. I not a professionel musican (yet), so the best place for my guitars are the backseat of a the car I am travelling in to go to gigs. but if I was a professionel, I even wouldn t trust such a case while flying or traveling round the world. only from hotel to the concert hall.

stay tuned

jeff, it would be nice. I inquired on this site a while back and was quoted in the $250 zone. since I do have an original case for the mc500... I am not so inclined to spend the $250 right now because... tonight I am going 2 towns away from me to check out a doubleneck artist that the guy wants $1600 for. It's the guy's personal axe, not a music store. Haven't seen it, or photos of it yet, but it's 10 minutes away and if I drop the $1500-$1600 on it, I would be even less in-the-market for the flight case for the mc500 right now. But... eventually, I sure would really like to have one. and I guess that I may still get one sooner than later anyway if the price was digestible.

Bob,

I have no need for the flight case, it just happened to come with the 400. I would like something, however, to store the guitar in. I would consider and even swap for your original if its functional and if thats something you would consider. Contact me at jeffsailor@verizon.net if you're interested.

Stuff all that about the case, vintage issues and all. What I can't believe is that Orval picked a fight with a Marine! :-)
