Picked this up today. Private seller. He was a real nice fellow who had his eye on another Ibanez that he wants so... he sold me this one for $1,150. There is one decent "nick" on the back, on the edge of the guitar. There is a "ding" on the face below the tone controls. That's it. All original, no belt rash AT ALL, none. Whaddya think? It's a 1983, I would have preferred an earlier one but... to me, she's still a beauty. I am so surprised that it is much heavier than it is. It's not heavy at all really. I owned a 1977 or '78 (I believe) Ibanez doubleneck, SG style, and that one was much heavier. This one is no prob. at all with the weight. It does have decent weight to it but.... no prob. doing a few sets with it. Jeff told me it's an AR1200. Any ideas on production #'s? And... I'm sneaking in another photo of my '78 MC500nt... just 'cause I never get tired of looking at it. { |

P.S. - typo - what I meant to say was... I am surprised it's not heavier than it is. In the case, that's another story. That's heavy. |

Thanx folks. The photos are pretty bad, it looks 10x better when you have it in hand. Last night was my first shot at playing it. It's really really nice. Both necks play like butter and the sound is unbelievable. The hardware is in remarkable shape too. I'd say 94% of the gold plating is still there, right as it should be, hardly any wear. Just a bit on 2 of the pup covers, right on the corners. Roadstar... how much did you pay for your mc500? I had a '78 MC300ds too. Until quite recently. I miss it. But.... the mc500 makes up for it nicely. I think 104 1978 mc500nt's were produced. Don't have my serial # with me now, but I will get it and post it here for you. Freak.... why does this doubleneck have 2 inputs? |

I forgot to mention, the guy who I got this from is a top-notch guitar tech so... it's in fine shape as far as the setup, playability, condition etc. |

Freak, any photos of the ar3000vv that you could post here? I'd like a look-see if you don't mind. I am keeping the ar1200 but if you don't mind, I'd love to see your photos. |

Freak, Nice! What year is your ar3000? And... the photos, are they the actual guitar you own? Man, I would love to have one of those. Is there a ar3000 model with vines? That would be something. That's a tempting guitar you have there. P.S. - check out the neckplate on the 6 string side of my ar1200. It doesn't say "artist" on it like the 12 string side. Should It? If so... anyone got one? |

I played this thru 2 amps last night. A 100 watt Marshall and a Roland Jazz Chorus 120. Man... I wish I could let you guys know exactly how awesome this thing sounds. It has life to it. It's really totally awesome, both necks. Sweet, crunchy, vintage, warm, deep... It's hard to explain really, other than I think anyone would be happy with one of these. And yes... I do use the 12 string quite often with the stuff I play and write. It's set up real real nice. Holds the tune on the 6 side no matter what you do to it. I wasn't bashing on the 12 side and I was using the Roland for the 12 side. It's a good way to go, the Roland, for the 12 side. |
