Hello everybody, I just purchased a Mucician MC300 Limited edition. The guitar is in quit good chape exept for the electronics; Since information on this model is very hard to find, I hope that someone out here can help me: I figured out the function of most of the knobs on the guitar (thanks to you guys). The only thing that seems really mysterious is the on/off toggle switch with the red led just beside it and the 'six positions' turning knob just under it. I plugged the guitar in but the only thing that seems to work is the bridge humbucker. Nice to get only one sound from such a verstile instrument... So, if at least someone could tell me what every knob is supposed to be doing, it might be of help to restore the electronics in the way they are ment to work. Off course, a wiring diagram would be even better... Thanks for all your input! |

the microswitch with the led sounds like the switch and led used for active circuitries. Didn't know there were MC300 with that. I don't know about the rotosound. Paul |

If the LED isn't lighting up, maybe the battery is dead? Don't know why that would affect the neck humbucker, tho. |

The MC300 was a passive guitar. Two humbuckers, 2 volume pots, 2 tone pots, 3 position PU selector toggle, and 2 mini coil cut toggles. If yours has active electronics (as it aparently does if there is an LED) than one of the following is the case: 1. Yours has been modified after-market, or 2. You have a one-off that I've never heard of, or 3. Your guitar is not a Musician MC300. You might want to post some pictures to help solve your riddle. Bill |

The differences between the standard MC300 and the MC300-Limited Edition are: - the body has a maple core like the MC500/MC550 instead of a mahogany core as all other Musicians - it has a PreAmp - the controls on the LE are Volume, Tone, PreAmp Cut/Boost - the body finish is satin instead of high gloss The 6-way rotary switch was a standard feature of the MC300 since October 1979. Although this model was discussed several times on this board there seem to be no detailed infos, like production numbers, available. Below are pics of my MC300-LE and a wiring diagram of the MC300 (2nd edition) Juergen

I've never seen or heard of one of these before. It doesn't appear in any of the Ibanez catalogs I've seen from that era. Very cool guitar. Enjoy! Bill |

Lbpesq: I believe that the LE Musicians have mostly been found in the UK and Europe. That's why they don't show up in US catalogs. |

Thanks Juergen, you solved all my problems! I was allready thinking about refinishing the guitar because of the satin, faded look of the finish! As soon as the guitar is restored, i'll put some pictures on the board. Lieven |
