Iceman IC300 problems. Pickups?

Its a few years old i think, i bought it used from the music store. It has only one volume knob and one tone knob, its black, there are three tuning keys on each side. (Not all on same side) and the switch is on the top of the guitar (toward my head when its strapped on, not near the knobs.) Now i need to make sure this model has a mohagony body, not basswood. I am almost positive it does. The reason i wonder this, is becuase I think i may need new pickups. My bridge pickup is very wobbly and comes lose all the time. One time it has actually fallen into the guitar body, it came so loose. Is that TOO wobbly? I am concerned it affecting my sound. I am about to buy a 200 watt randall head that i tried at hte music store with some random guitar. I loved it. Right now im going through an Ibanez 100 watt Tone Blaster, and if i turn the bass at all past halfway, my 4/12 mesa cabinet farts, and it farts BAD. at the store i had that randall the high maxed, the bass maxed, and the mid at 2 and that thign sounded SWEET! Do you think the head i am currently using is garbage? Or do you think there is something wrong with my pickups, maybe the wobbly pickup isnt picking up or transmitting bass like it should? or do you think when i play a randall with my ibanez it wont fart because its 200w as opposed to 100w? I am completely lost and i dont want to blow any money unless i find out what the problem is. Other than the sound farting with the bass up, it sounds horrible. I am going for a heavy metal sound, and right now what i am hearing just isnt cutting it. If i do need new pickups does anyone have any suggestions for heavy metal-friendly pickups for a solidbody mahogony body? I heard that if you have heavy duty humbuckers in a mahogony body guitar it will fart out with the bass up. (which is what is happeneing to me right now, but the pckups i have now are stock i think! and those are the AH1 and AH2) How do i find a happy medium? I want a real real real chug sound and real full numb picking sounds. Any help would be great. Thanks! a deep bassy distortion like hatebreed or something of the sort would be perfect. Is that possible with my guitar? Scott. btw, just found out its a basswood body.   Skybone Username: Skybone Registered: 03-2001 Posted on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 - 4:16 am:    I'm afraid that the 90's reissue Iceman, the IC300 and the IC350 (with LoPro trem) are actually made of basswood, with a maple bolt neck. The pickup issue would be resolved if, when you change strings next, remove the pickup surround, take out the height adjustment screws, take them to your local guitar shop and buy 2 new adjusters which are longer than the originals. The wobbly-ness shouldn't affect your tone. The tonal difference between the Ibanez and the Randall would be down to the difference in EQ sections of each type of amp. Try adding some mids into your tone, the scooped tone is heavy, but it won't help your sound cut through the mix in a band situation, the guitar & bass will become a whole heap of mush. The usual choice of replacement pickup would be either Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio. Go for one with a high output impedance (stated in k ohms), something like an Invader or DimeBucker or DiMarzio Distortion, even EMG's would be a place to start, but speak to the guys in your local guitar shop about it, they should have a few suggestions if they know their stuff (some don't).
