OK folks. Given the sale of the AR-300, I've decided to test the waters. Unless someone privately offers me a significant amount, I'm going to let the auction run to completion. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7358712588&rd=1&sspagename=ST RK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1 |

Michael: She looks like a beauty! Here's an ICW friendly ebay URL. Please use it, if possible: http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7358712588 |

Michael, Just curious. Howcome your AR500 has a bone or plastic nut? All mine have or had the half/half nut. I own(ed) five from 1981-1983. Paul |

Lespaul: as far as I know, the nut is original. Do you have a picture I can compare with? Thanks, mk |

JohnS - Just curious...can you describe thoroughly the difference/benefit of this ICW friendly v. non-friendly(URL)? Thanks, EJ |

Oh, and MK, my statement in that other thread regarding what I would be willing to pay $2,500 for in an Ibanez was for that 300CS, not your 500. She's a beaut! |

Strings: When you use the ICW version of the URL, ebay knows that you came to their site via ICW. If you subsequently place a bid and win, or use BIN ICW will get a small commission on the sale. Every little bit counts. Please note that if you go to ebay, search, place bids and win auctions normally, ebay doesn't pay any commissions and using an ICW friendly URL doesn't add any extra costs to the auction. So this is one important way that people can support ICW without making an outright donation. The only way that ebay knows how to give credit to ICW for the referral is by the URL that is used to connect to ebay. So look for URLs with the following in the beginning: http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315. The Enter ebay item text box above the Post text box takes an ebay item number and creates these "hybrid" URLs automatically. This doesn't just apply to guitars or related items. If you have other auctions you know you want to bid on, you can create ICW URLs here in a "dummy" message. After you press the Preview/Post button the URL appears in the Preview New Message screen. When you click on the URL it will create a new browser window that connects to the auction on ebay. Then come back to the original browser window and use the Cancel Post button to delete the Preview of the message containing the ICW friendly URL. If this sounds too complicated, don't worry. Soon, we will be adding a new feature that easily creates ICW version URLs outside of the Discussion Board software. |

Congratulations Michael and Dave, you have both done well. I am pretty sure that I shall be putting mine on in a few weeks. I went over my '81 with a fine tooth comb yesterday and it does not have a scratch or dent anywhere. |

I want to second Boymambo's description of his AR500. I've seen extensive pictures and it is incredibly beautiful and in virtually new condition. Someone will get a great guitar there! His is another "time capsule" guitar that was just "opened". Someone who is in the market for a dream ar500 ought to negotiate with him before it hits ebay. falcon |

Michael, do you mind telling us WHY you even sold this guitar? Because yours sold for $2500, I have given up on trying to obtain one. I am picking up a 2622 tomorrow or Sunday. It doesn't have the coil splitters that the ar500 has but... I can live with that. I'll have the '78 2622, '78 mc500nt and '83 ar1200av. There's enough knobs there to keep me occupied. Why did you ley your ar500 go? I'll post the 2622 photos when I have it in hand. |

Primarily because: - back/neck issues - this guitar is heavy - I'm a player not a collector and I haven't been playing it. My AM-50 has been keeping me very happy. - I've had the desire for guitar with true Strat-like single coil sound. Before the Cowboy became available, I considered adding a 3rd pickup (single-coil) to my AR-500 just like Weir's original Cowboy. I could never pull the trigger. When the Cowboy became available, I didn't want to shell out that much money. - Just before making my decision to sell the AR-500, I came across some Ibanez Prestiges and liked playing them very much. H-S-H config. Something I've been looking for. I realized I could sell the AR-500, purchase the Prestige and still put a significant amount of money in the bank. - One day, maybe a Cowboy will come my way, or, maybe I'll get hold of an AR-3000 (new style) with tri-sounds just like in those pictures from Japan. The new AR's are much lighter than the vintage ones. Not sure if any of this makes sense. I know I'll miss the AR-500, however, I'm comfortable with the decision. Good luck on your quest. Personally, I thought the '79 with Super 80's was real nice. It went a month ago for around $1,900. It was a transitional model: post-2622 & pre-heavier, thicker 80's version of the AR-500. mk |

Mike, I held this Cherry in my hands. It is in excellent condition. I couldn't play it because it wasn't stringed. I was prepared to purchase it. It didn't happen. Excellent guitar. falcon |

If I was looking for an AR-500, this is the one I would have purchased. Correction, it was $1,800. http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7349811727 |

Thanx Michael. Your ar500 was worth apprx. $800 more than the one in the link. Amazing... and... that cherry 2622 is beautiful isn't it. I think that's the only one I've ever seen with that finish. It's really sweet. I'll post photos of the 2622 when I pick it up Sunday.... 11 am. |
