Greetings! I've been a lurker here for ever, but an opportunity has come up to acquire a 1977 Artist 2618 so I thought I'd say hello to you all and get some opinions this guitar. First, I'm interested in what you think it is worth - condition is average, the bridge pup has been replaced with a Gibson '57 and a non-original mini-toggle has been installed. In short, it's a 'player', not a collector. I'm interested in one of these fusion/jazz/blues playing. Looking for sustain, bloom (think Scott Henderson/Tribal Tech) and generally good 'playability'. Is this a good choice or should I be looking at something else? Your opinions and comments would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Brian |

It's a nice model but why don't you just grab one that hasn't been mucked with. They are around, you'll find one. It may bode well for you in the long run. As far as value on one that's been "mucked" with as described... in my opinion... $550-600? Wait for other opinions on the value though. |

Thanks Bob! I've since found the database of Ebay prices that Russell has been maintaining. Good sample set of '70's 2618s, so I think your valuation is probably fairly close. Still like to get other opinions - particulary on the suitability of this model and how much (if anything) the extra minitoggle would devalue it. Also, does anyone know how much these weigh? I've read the early 80's AR-100s are pretty heavy, but the 2618s were somewhat lighter. Is that true or am I high? |
