Hi everyone, I've just got my hands on my first vintage Ibanez. It's a set-necked Les Paul copy - from what I can gather from reading the messages in this forum, its a model 2386. The output of the neck pickup was kinda weak, so I decided to take it out to check the wiring. When I took it out, I saw that there was a metal bar taped to the back plate of the pickup. I had never seen this on a pickup before, so I took a look at the bridge pickup. Same thing. The bar looks like a magnetic bar, so I was wondering - is this part of the pickup design? Or was it something a previous owner had added to the pickup? If anyone knows what these bars are and could let me know, that would be great. Thanks, J |

Bump Sorry "J"...I've never seen that but there are far better experienced I-PUP experts out here than I, so I thought I'd bump you to the top to see who might know. |

Are you certain they are originals? I have seen some cheap chineese pups that are made that way with the magnetic bars underneath. |
