I bought this Artist new around 74-75. Serial No. is 32475. I removed the white pick guard back in the day. Does anyone know or have any info on this model and year? I need to have some electronic repairs and neck adjustment done and would like to know a little something before I have the work done. |

I get to here but I'm still not prompted to upload the image. I'm using IE, pop-up blockers are off. I don't know what else to do. I've gone thru the "uploading images section". Sorry. |

TKwest: Welcome. Glad you finally, got the picture upload process worked out. What you have is a model 2613. It's the granddaddy of the Artist series. These were made using economical materials and construction techniques, like hollow tops, multi-piece sandwich bodies and bolt-on necks. They first appeared in the 1973 catalog and remained unchanged thru 1975. The 1976 catalog shows the 2613, but it no longer has the white plastic piece covering the controls on the front. So your's could be from '73 thru '75. Here's a great catalog shot from 1973: http://www.break-even.org/ibzscans/1973EZ/artist-2.jpg BTW where is your serial number located? It's believed that Ibanez did not start using any serial numbers until mid 1976. And then it was something like: x76nnnn, where x is a letter designating the month (A=Jan., B=Feb., etc.) and the first 2 digits are the year (76=1976, 77=1977, etc.) The number of 32475, is totally unfamiliar. If it's original, then we'll have to revisit the history of the serial number. |

The serial number is stamped on the second fret closest to the pickup. I bought the guitar new from a dealer here in Youngstown, Ohio. I believe I purchased it in 1975, which might explain the number ending in "75"? |

The pickguard was that shown in the catalog photo. |

I believe "G75****" is the oldest verified serial number. There has been discussion about numbers stamped into fretboards on other threads. Dunno if anything was ever resolved. Steve |

I took the guitar in to have it "set up" and it won't be done until next Wednesday. I'll be glad to post a jpg of the serial number if anyone is interested. |
