Hello,

I was recently browsing at a local second hand store and found an Ibanez Artist serial number D79****

The guitar looked almost indentical to this guitar: (the 2618)

But it had the triangle tailpiece. Also had beautiful colourful 'dot' fret board markers.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm interested in this guitar, but I want to make sure I could get my money back on it should I decide to move it on.

They're asking for $550... (US funds)

Keep in mind that the bridge pickup has been replaced with a Seymour Duncan pickup, and there is significant damage to the finish near the input jack.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Mike, I would vote for AR 100 made in April 1979..
Abalone dot inlays, so they look "colourful".

The guitar I saw had 24 frets, that model doesn't seem to have had 24 frets.

That is the exact guitar I saw, except the neck pup had a gold cover and the bridge was a bare Seymour Duncan... which is obviously a modification.

Is this worth the $550?

Did the gold cover have a logo embossed into it? Or was it a "standard" covered humbucker with visible screw pole pieces?

I'd say "probably" on the value, as I'm not in the US. There again, if I had $550, then I might be tempted... ;)

I think there may have been a logo.... I'm not entirely sure.

The guitar played beautifully. I'll probably go down there and offer them a bit less for it, and see how I go.

Let me know what to look for, if there are any signs as to special features, etc...
