Dang, seems like it'd be expensive to get her up and running again with original parts. I wonder how it got like that. |

Maybe someone gutted it, stuck the electronics in an ar100 Artist body and came up with something like an "ar500". The electronics pkg. that was in here was pretty close to an ar500 setup. Correct? And... I doubt that's what happened but... most likely, there's no good reason for leaving a guitar this way. Something must have been wrong with the guitar. Very wrong... and the guy just never got around to an intended repair/refurb. |

Guys, As specified in the auction, the seller has the "guts" including the active electronics. The only thing it's missing is a bridge, tuners and if you want to get picky, the knobs. All in all, I would think this is a fantasic opportunity to get an MC400 for far below what one would usually sell for. And Bob, to answer your question about how a guitar could get in this condition. Sometimes, whether we like it or not, people resort to cannibalism to restore a guitar. Now please understand I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it does happen. js |

The seller has posted a picture of the "active electronics" and all thats included are the pots. The board and trisounds are missing. So maybe it wouldn't be such an easy refurb after all... |

If anyone wants to take this one on , I'll donate a NOS EQ board, Brass Musician TR cover and and a Bridge. The bridge is not NOS and is tarnished. I'll kick 'em in for free just in the interest of resurrecting this beast...... |

Mike, Never knew there was a difference. I'm positive that these are from the earlier 2622 , part nmber E0-401, and I have several of them in the "parts vault"-thats why I'm willing to donate to the cause... |

ok, search for "EQ" and "board". There are pictures of two different EQ boards in Jim Donahue's section under the thread "Questions regarding 1979 AR500 initial/transitional model". Can someone please post the link here. I don't know how. |

I'm amazed at the auction results. $476.52 USD I got my MC400 out for a few... Sure is a different animal than my other regular guitars, but it plays like a dream... |

$475 is amazing for this one. I think I've seen a few posts where folks got their 400's for alot less and... intact. |

but that assuming that it really sold. recently there was a wine custom agent that "sold" for $1625. only a day or two after the auction the seller made an offer to me for less. or maybe the seller got lucky with a bidding frenzy. i know that daves generous offer of parts made me bid a little higher than i normally would on a bare body. |

Please excuse me for raising this question here in this thread. Does anyone have information about the thin slice of wood on the headstock of MC models? (I'm not sure if the word "headstock" is correct or not. By the word I mean the part of the guitar where machineheads are installed.) I asked a similar question before (regarding 2700 & 2710), but got no reply so far.... |
