In 1979 at the early age of around 14 I bought an Ibanez Iceman IC250. For years it was my main guitar and is still fun to play. Time has been pretty good to the ole’ thing with the exception of the bridge. It was replace many years ago by a music shop that ordered ‘the right one’ but when I got it it was wrong (must have been around '82 or '83). The tail piece, tuners and pickups all show the usual wear in the gold of a well played guitar. As I’m much older and ready to restore it to as much of an original state as I can. I’d be very interested in as much info on it as possible - type of woods used, finish, etc. The wear on the original parts doesn’t bother me but I definitely need to find an illusive gold Gibraltar bridge. There seems to be a low production number on this model so the info is scarce. On the warranty card it’s listed as an IC250BS. |

I should tell you what I think I know about it I suppose. It's a tobbaco sunburst with a figured tiger maple top. I've found it listed as having a mahogany body and maple neck but the neck almost looks mahogany. It is also listed as having a rosewood fretboard but it looks ebony. |

Here's an old pic of what it looked like new in 1979.

That's weird. I don't know much about the Iceman (aside from what I've read in my travels), but the 1978 catalog at Ibanezrules doesn't list it. I see the IC200 which looks nearly identical. Also, the Ibanez Untold Story book doesn't make a mention of a IC250 either. Sure is a sweet looking guitar. Definitely a keeper! Doesn't look like it needs much restoring at all, and you should be able to find the right bridge with some patience and cash on eBay. |

Thanks for the info, It's listed on http://vintageibanez.tripod.com/iceman_production.html as having only 64 made in 1978. I guess that's why I haven't been able to find much on it. It's always been special to me even when it was new. |

Ogre: Very nice looking Iceman! So, the IC250 is an IC200 with a flame maple top? First I've ever heard of it. YOu learn something new about Ibanez everyday! Shame they got you the wrong bridge, years ago. But the ShortStop you have is also a rare enough part that you should be able to finance a NOS Gibraltar I bridge by selling the SS. |

Thanks for the info. I'll start looking for a bridge. I remember buying it. It was the first guitar I saw when I walked in the shop. They had it marked down because no one wanted it. I only wish everything else in life worked as well for so long!! |

... and all this time, I've lived 30 minutes from Chesbro and never new they were a big Ibanez distributor. |
