Can anyone tell me which Allen key size to use to adjust the poles on my St105's V2s? Everything I have seems to be too big or too small.

Has anyone tried removing a row of poles from V2s to see what they sound like?

The V2s on my guitars use screws with small slots (not screws with allen heads). I just use a small screwdriver. I have a set of power sustain pickups from a Japan made Washburn Hawk (Matsumoko) that look identical to my V2s that use allen screws. As Ibanezfreak recommended...they are metric of course.

V2s come in a few different varieties. Some with screws and some with allen heads.

The early, cream-colored V2's have a small round hole and slot. It looks like an allen (six-sided) screw, but it''s not. Had me fooled for quite some time.

Mmmm, since mine is a '79,and they are cream, then maybe it's the last of these.

I'd better get out the magnifying glass.....

Thanks.

I was wrong, sorry, thinking of an IBZ F2, (which seems to like 3/32")

OK, they are the hole with the slot!! :-)

I removed the row of poles furthest from the neck on the neck pickup - the poles on the bridge pickup won't budge.

The sound is interesting - slightly down on power, less middle and more cutting, like a P90.

I think I'm going to put a DiMarzio PAF (DP103) on the neck and put the 'depoled' V2 on the bridge.

Geoff
