I've got a line on an '83 (already learned the secret code for serial numbers) that's listed as a "Roadstar II RG335BK." A catalog scan that somebody posted (Steve, maybe?) shows that model as an RS335, and the research I've been able to do so far says the RG's didn't come along until a few years later. This link is all I've been able to dig up about a possible RG335 from 1983: http://www.ibanezregister.com/Gallery/roadstar/gal-rs335.htm Is that one really an RS, or . . . ??? Thanks for any clarification. -- Doug C. |

RS335. The prefix changed from RS to RG in 1986. Steve |

Thanks, Steve. I knew you'd know. Also got an email from the seller, who acknowledged a typo in the "for sale" posting I saw. Either way, it's kinda cool, and I think I'm gonna grab it. -- Doug C. |

I have an RS335BK...or my son does. Bought it for him so he had a "real" guitar. He's since committed his interest to drums, so it's become the "house guitar". Everyone loves it - fun guitar to play. |

Steve, Regarding the introduction of "RG" series models, my understanding is that they came into Japan's market as early as in October of1984. Please refer to the following URL: http://www.geocities.jp/ar_lovers_room/catalogues/1985_10/1985_10.html I don't know whether this is the case with other countries, though. |

Sorry. There's a typo in my posting above. I was goint to say "as early as in October of 1985" not "1984." |

1986 model year, not calendar year. Production always starts early for some models. I claim no expertise where domestic Ibanez guitars are concerned. I pretty much confine myself to US import offerings. Steve |

Steve, I do understand your viewpoint. It's almost the same as to how I have felt about the ARs and their related models existing outside of Japan. There ARE too many of them, which are unfamiliar to me.... That's why I hesitated to be a member of this forum for a long time. |
