16 bucks a tuner... not bad... but it looks like they'll go the distance now. |

Go to ....http://www.ibanez.com/parts/2004_PARTS/el_guitar/index/index_spec.html Click on AR/AX Series, then AR3000 color and then machine head. (Part no. MB506G). They are beautiful Artist tuners, available from Ibanez dealers. Yes, they're not NOS, but new.. |

OK, help me out here - I'm still something of a novice at this. NOS is an acronym for what? (I feel like I should know this one already...) (And thanks for the heads up on the machine heads, Overdriver!) |

New Old Stock = NOS - Usually referring to parts that sat around a music store for many years before they were sold. Funny, those tuners went for $2.50 more than the original BIN. |

Will the new AR3000 machine heads fit older Artist Models? Also the tail ornamant? Is that the same as the older models? Thanks |

That's what I want to know too, Tubescorcher. Those tuners look great and I need a cloud ornament (or I'll have to get someone to gold plate one of the ones I have now). I read somewhere on here that the screwholes may not match up, but presumable the ornament would cover the original holes if new ones have to be drilled (as much as I would hate to do that. |

Nope, the newer tuners won't fit 'cause they have an offset mounting screw. So using those as a replacement for the vintage tuners would require additional holes to be drilled... Juergen |

I wish it was as easy as buying the new machine heads. Does any one know any machine head that will fit without drilling aside from the original? |

My thinking on this is that it's not a major deal to drill new holes. Many of the $250,000+ '58-'60 Gibson Les Paul bursts had Grovers fitted which required new holes, (Jimmy Page's, Eric Clapton's and Peter Green's for example). That doesn't effect their price. The same applies to Artists. My Artists came with after market tuners which work very well, better than the originals. I like the look of the new Ibanez tuners so I'm thinking of getting some. |

Scorch...I'll send you a CU pic of my '82 AR300 with the Grovers...no new (or at least exposed extra) holes. As I mentioned in my email, I have no love for the stock tuners on your 'new' axe...same as my AR300 |
