A rare brownburst Bob Weir. Expensive, too.

Here's the ICW-friendly URL:

Strings....This seller also wants $75 for shipping ! Sometimes I wonder what these sellers are thinking..there is no mention of the condition (or even the fact that the selector switch is broken). This looks to be a very nice $1500-$1800 guitar assuming original case and no suprises in the condition. Shipping coast to coast should not be more than $40, unless its in a flight case -then coast to coast could cost as much as $60......I think we will see action on the relist if the seller lowers his price cause I don't really see anyone bidding at the current price (unless the name is shill)

Yup! Agreed Dave. Also, do those fretwires always extend that far wide of the board when stock on this model, or is that a re-fret? Looks like it might be offering a rough ride.

I can't tell about the switch form that shot. Could it be a metallic replacement?

Seller obvioulsy doesn't know much about "The Brand" so is guessing at what it's worth.

Dave, this is a brownburst and has got to be worth at least $1800 considering that in the past couple of years we have seen naturals go for over $2000.

Six, I don't think so...the last couple went for $1450 (Robs) and $1800 (mine)..they have been as high as $2800 in the past, but -at present I do not think this guit will attract anything near that. The frets do look like a re-fret as the original had tabs extending from the binding-not always a major negative, provided the refret is a real clean job.

Yeah fair enough I guess but the colour must be pretty scarce for a Weir. Strange how they have peaked in price and have now dropped out. Wonder if it's a seasonal thing.

This seller is a local store in San Diego - I've been in there a few times. When they get something like this - or the '82 AR300 (that they want $1849 for) - they tend to shoot for the moon price-wise. I don't know if they are ever going to actually sell these guitars at the prices they're asking.

This is a nice guitar, though. I'd never pay that much for it, but it is a nice guitar.

I was gonna say "expensive" in the title of the thread when I listed it but with the prices some Ibanez axes have gone for lately, I didn't mention it. In any event, real nice guitar for the most part and the rare color but man... I do believe $1800 would be more of an acceptable price/expenditure. I am inclined to think that someone here will jump on this guitar despite the current asking price and... that would negate a re-list.
