I'm thinking about selling my '83 Artist 1505. I'm wondering if anyone has a feel for the market for these things? What would be a reasonable selling price.

These are pretty rare birds, only made a couple of years. Since they're so rare it's hard to come up with examples of prevous sales.

If you go to the search feature and enter "AR1500" the first thread that will come up is one I started some time back called "tell me about the ar1500." A few messages down in that thread you can see pictures of my guitar. Since those photos were posted I've reinstalled the original Ibanez pickups.

The guitar has a few dings and scratches but it's basically clean. There is that nasty chunk in the back though. You can see it in one of the photos.

Bob:

I just did a search on 1505 and came up with a dozen messages. Not much info on what kind of money they are worth. As you say they are just not common enough to get comparisons on.

I'd say a starting point would be like a mint AR500 and go up from there.

I didn't know if it was appropriate to post your own ebay listing here. Thanks Pitviper . . .

So, do you suppose this guy will send me a cut on his auction in exchange for ripping off my description wording?

Here's his auction:

Here's mine, posted three days earlier. Notice any similarity?

McEowen, Seems that this other guy does not know woods, the fingerbd on his guitar is ebony.. :-)

Still,a "familiar" eBay ripoff. Methinks..
