When did Ibanez change from V2's to Super 58's on the AS50? Were both pups used in 1981? tnx, mk |

The '80 catalog shows the AS-50 with V2s. As far as I know, the first time the AS-50 was shown with Super 58s was in the '82 catalog. However, my AS-50 was made in November '81 and it has original Super 58s. My guess is that '81 was a transition year. Does anyone here have an early '81 AS-50? Jonathan |

My September 81 AS50 has V-2's, the October 81 AS50 I sold a couple of years ago had S-58's. Ace |

AS50's body with an AS100 inlaid head stock, AS50 truss-rod cover and pick-guard, V2 and Super58 combo, never-seen-before color; another curve-ball from Ibanez. Judging from the speed knobs, it should be an early 1981. Rjw, would you mind telling us what the serial number is? ...and where are you located? ...I imagine it's not in the U.S. Thank you. |

A hot V2 at the bridge and the warm S58 for the neck, good combination. Ace |
