Hello ICW:s Bought a Bob Weir professional on ebay from a seller called himself Dr Bond. Is there anyone who have any exprience with this kind of problem and with DR bond? Payed him this Sunday via Paypal, haveīnt heard anything from him since. Have allert him thrue email several times, but nothing! Grateful to any respons here! Holmis63 |

I use both quite frequently. At least with paypal you do have an chance against a dishonest seller. People go places for the weekend and whatnot...give him some time..but after 5 days I would start to cover my 6. |

After reviewing his feedback..I'd say you probably have nothing to worry about. His customers seem happy with the products and the service. Give him some time...but after 5 days with no communication, I would go thru ebay for his Ph# and call him. |

Hi again ICW:s Thanks for the quick respond Pitviper! Itīs my first deal through Ebay and Paypal so i guess iīm a litle sensitive and worried to get riped off. Iīve also read the feedbacks and would feel secure but, no, there is that unsafe feeling. Thaks again Holmis63 |

Holmis, I had a seller dissapear on me once. Not to scare you, but I found that the PayPal protection was pretty bogus. They made a feeble effort to recover the funds, and ended up sending me a check for $1.25 - no joke. But where I was able to recover the funds was through Visa buyer protection. They refunded me the whole amount. So I always try to fund my paypal transactions through my Visa debit card, rather than through my checking account. |

dr bond is ok, i bought a 2672 from him. he doesnt email much though, but shipped the guitar within a day of when i paid for it. |

Hello again ICW:s Dr bond contacted me yesterday. It was my fault, paypal take a 2,5% fee (that i wasīnt awear of) when you transfer the money, so there was a lack of 17 USD in shipping money. I send him the money anyway and explained that i send the rest (17 USD) when they appear on they paypal account. Itīs my first busines on the ebay/payal so i guess iīm kind of virgin in this matter! hey there ... a word to the wary -- i have used both ebay and paypal, and in my experience both work fine until something goes wrong. note that both companies are, in fact, the same company (paypal is, or at least was, owned by ebay). a few years ago, i bought what appeared to be a 1970's electra LP copy, but it was actually an electra neck (in great condition, btw) bolted onto somebody else's body ... the neck is in metric; the body was in inches; the installation had crushed some of the neck pickup's electronics as well as part of the surround (the latter aspect was hidden in photos). brilliant. lots of email before the fact; the seller said everything worked perfectly, sounded great, etc. etc. etc. caveat emptor. anyway, to the point: i shipped it back to the seller immediately (on my own nickel). got the expected response from seller: said he wouldn't take it back or reimburse me. stopped responding to email altogether. paypal said it wasn't their problem -- that i should go to ebay because of a fradulent description, bad auction, etc. ebay said it wasn't their problem; that they were just a clearinghouse for items and that they could not reimburse me because they were not monetarily involved -- that i would have to go to the financial party (paypal). very convenient. ultimately, my credit-card company reimbursed me after about two years of the charge being "in dispute" ... at that point i think they had totally forgotten about it and simply paid me because they were embarassed that it had dragged on that long, and i doubt they got a penny from paypal. epilogue, FWIW: i cancelled my paypal account when all of this started (entirely out of spite), and i don't deal with anybody on ebay who has any negative comments or any significant number of neutral comments. i also avoid bolt-on necks. the "buyer protection" thing is, as far as i can tell, snake oil. the only thing holding ebay together is trust and a community that is, for the most part, not thieves. |

Yeah, detailed (and I mean well lit, hi-res, cu - don't but without 'em) pics and a phone call to the seller (you can usually smoke out the frauds by their voice and delivery) goes a long way when buying. Not sure you'd have noticed the neck problem even still... Don't forget that neg feedbacks are only one side of a story and if a seller has only one, you have to trace the guy who rated it so, he/she might have 10+% neg and is just an eBay prick sticking it to your potential seller.
