hi, i'm looking for a saddle block for my Roadstar. after a good look around i've found quite a number of people that have had the same problem, the barrel which the string goes into to be held down by the screw and cap has snapped. maybe someone has changed thier bridge and has these parts lying around? i would be grateful of any help. please email me at james@cargen.net thanks

Holy sh.., it went up another $30.- and the guy is ABSOLUTELY WRONG about the THREADED ARM.
IT IS NOT ORIGINAL!

You need one with two nylon bushings. READ THE "HELP SETTLE A DEBATE ABOUT TREMS" thread in CAPTAIN IBANEZ - DEFENDER OF TRUTH!

Don't throw your money away for a part that isn't even complete....

Damn gold diggers...

And did you see how much music-outlet-shop (Cologne) is asking for an original arm?
Wooaaahhh!!! They're f...... nuts!
Or we are, if we accept these prices...

hi, thanks for the replies, i had noticed that one on ebay but, i also noticed that was definately not the original arm, it looks like the arm is from a cheap strat. the trem i have is complete appart from the one saddle and i think i would rather wait than pay as much as that when i only need the one peice, cant wait to see the final price.

broken saddle

Ibeyfan: We had the exact same problem on my husband's 1985 Rockstar (see my post from March 18th). I just didn't know it was called the saddle block so I was looking to buy the entire bridge. Good luck finding your part. If you come across two saddle blocks, at prices that are not insane, please let me know.

Karbon: ive done a fair bit of research into this and it seems to be a problem due the cheap cast metal used to make the parts. i am now looking into a couple of options to get mine fixed, the first option i have is to get a new piece machined and my second option is to fit an entirely new bridge although this will take away its originality.

i dont know the technicality behind getting a new piece machined but an old friend of my dad runs an engineering workshop so i'll be taking the piece down sometime in April/May, I'm angling to get all 6 done but don't want it to take up all of his time as he would be doing it as a favour, i was just going to get the "barrels" done as these can be pinned onto the fine tuner part. if i can get this done you would be welcome to a couple of the older ones if you just paid postage, i'll probably put the other 3 up on ebay. i live in the u.k)

if i decide on the second option i would probably need to sell the bridge in order to buy a new one as money to spend on my guitar is pretty tight at the moment, either that or sell each of the saddles and the trem arm seperately as the bridge is incomplete and its pretty unfair to lump someone with the same problem that i had. although again i'll probably be waiting until April/May to see if the first option is viable. again if i decide to do this i'll let you know before i put them up on ebay and you could have one, i would really need to sell the others though i'm afraid.

again if i get any further forward i'll post it up on the board, but it will be a little while before i can get any further forward as i live a few hundred miles away from my family.

Ebay Item #130090451567 went for $122.50 with a NON-ORIGINAL ARM. Incredible! IMO a rip-off.
If your dad's friend can machine the piece(s), that's a better option.
I don't know if other bridges will fit. If the distance between the studs is different, you'll have the fill the old holes and drill new ones. That would mean the end of the vintage collectible.

yeah, $122.50 was completely over the top, but i think the reason that it went for that price was because people are in my situation and need parts which you just cant find. although i also seen that the top lok went for a fair bit as well.

i really want to keep the guitar original but if find that ive just no hope of getting the bridge fixed then i still think i'd side with retrofitting another bridge, i know it would ruin the collectable image of the guitar but i also want something i can play. if i cant play it i would end up selling it and i honestly dont want to do that because i love the guitar, i'm really impressed with the build quality and for such old p'ups it really growls, i'd take it over a strat any day.

it's a hard choice so definately not something i'm going to go ahead and do without a lot of thought.
i have another 2 electrics including an RG and also an acoustic so they should keep me happy in the mean time!

fingers crossed for the machining!
