Desperately seeking Silver Series Strat

There never was a lawsuit between Fender and Hoshino/Elger, just one between Gibson and Hoshino/Elger about the shape of the headstocks of GIBSON copies, which looked like open books. In 1982 Fuji Gen Gakki, the main manufacturer of Ibanez guitars, was contracted by Fender Japan to make Stratocasters under the Fender flag. They were very happy that there was so much experience already available, because they had been producing Ibanez and Greco strats for several years. So in fact, you shouldn't feel much difference between an Ibanez Silver Series and a Fender Japan Stratocaster. They were standard setup with .009"-.042" strings, which is pretty light, but this way you can use less tension on the tremolo. Anyway, there's no need to be desperate. There are plenty Fender Japan Stratocasters, although the sunbursts were more expensive. What about a Photo Flame or a Fiesta Red Hank Marvin from the Squier Silver Series for instance? I have a condition called rsd in my left hand which causes all sorts of weird pain.My hand is extremely hypersensitive-the slightest thing can trigger a nasty pain that lasts for a week or more.(I used to play alot of classical guitar,now I can't even touch the strings without triggering pain.)Somehow I have gotten used to the feel of my '77 silver series and I can play it with very little pain.I have tried several Fenders and an Ibanez Roadstar with no luck.I don't know if it's the exact shape of the neck or what.I know about the whole Gibson lawsuit thing.I was just calling the guitar "lawsuit"because everyone else seems to!   Gemberbier Username: Gemberbier Registered: 5-2006 Posted on Tuesday, June 05, 2007 - 11:14 am:    There was a time, a few years ago, I had to stop playing the bass (and I have 7 or so), because of a hand/wrist injury. The only one I could play on was my Kasuga Telecaster Custom 1972 model. A very nice small and slim neck. Of course I'll keep my eyes open for you, but I think it's easier to find a MIJ Fender or Squier. I guess you want the mapple fretboard and high gloss finish on it, am I right? (i did mine). will keep the radar up for you. Other suggestions: type "Squier Japan Stratocaster" <enter> type "Squier Silver" <enter> type "Squier Marvin" <enter> (only in Fiesta Red, but always with a maple neck, started in 1992) I found a few maple necks yesterday, but they were in Japan. They ask $500-600 + shipping + tax. What do you mean by a "flat fingerboard"? You mean that the bottom of the fretboard is flat and glued on a flat neck, but the fretted part has a normal cambered radius? (slab fretboard) Or do you mean that the fretboard is TOTALLY flat like a classical guitar? (Never seen in my life). Juha   Harry Username: Harry Registered: 3-2001 Posted on Wednesday, June 06, 2007 - 4:00 pm:    Over here in Europe prices for Silver Series strats differ, but prices always amaze me (I´ve seen a Black Eagle bass sell for over 2000 US dollars and just a few weeks after that one in same condition went for just over 800.... I guess a fair price for a decent condition SS would be in the range of 400 - 450 Euro´s (around 600 US dollars). But then again: you might be lucky to hunt one down for even less.
