Well, as ibanez and other japanese guitars like tokai are known for there high quality in that period (and still are), i'm looking for an instrument from these manufacturers. ibanez serial# allows to date the year and month so it's tempting to get a matching guitar. i prefer set neck guitars with short scale and humbuckers(gibson type), it's kind of a rough description, but i have an open mind. |

Does it have to be B78 or could it be any letter? |

There are a couple of 1978 Ibanez's up on eBay and several more on GBase, however, very few of them have the serial numbers listed. A few e-mails should take care of that, though. |

thank you for your replies. unfortunately, the european market is a little smaller than the auctions that are running on ebay usa. shipping to germany will be around 350$!! are any europeans around? if anyone here has an guitar for sale as described, contact me! perfect match on the month is not needed, but would be very, very nice! :-) |

I would like to have a nice Fender Stratocaster of my year of birth. (I'm pre-CBS too). I had the opportunity to buy one that was one year too young but also pre-CBS for ƒ6500.- (L serial #) in 1998/'99 or so. And I thought that was expensive. Now I could have made a small fortune with that guitar. (It was light blue, I don't know if it was sonic blue or another fantasy name). 1978 is an EXCELLENT year for Ibanez guitars. Make sure that it has a decent Gibraltar bridge and tailpiece (not corroded) and Super Grip (I, not II) potmeterknobs and NO mods. Take a look at these: http://www.ibanez.ru/info/file.php?n=1978&p=&y=197 8 and tell us your preference. Ginger |

Strings, he did: "Posted on Saturday, August 04, 2007 - 7:10 am: -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Yes, i mean year and month of birth. That is'nt a stupid idea, is'nt it? i've been playing guitar for 12 years, i think now it's time for something special! ;-)" (On a Gibby he could even pick his DAY of birth, they go from 001 to 365/366). I could take a look at my The Pauls serial numbers. (Although I don't want to sell anything with an ebony fretboard.) Ginger |

Petjakov, I was hoping to get around 1000 EURO. Some small dings but in overall excellent condition and with OHSC. No rush to sell, but I will need more space for yet some hollow bodies. /Bjorn |
