Hello,

I have a near-mint AS-200 that isn't getting the proper amount of attention. I'm not looking for a quick sale or low ball offers, I would rather hold on to this beautiful guitar then sell it for a quick buck. What would interest me would be either a Les Paul that plays well or a reasonable cash offer.

I have plenty of *big* pictures available for anyone interested and will provide my phone # so we can talk over options. My ebay feedback is 100% with 196 transactions.

This guitar has been recently set up (within the past month) and has amazing action. It sounds amazing. Everything is original and there are no cracks or repairs. Some crazy ex-owner added a vibrato (included) and you can see in one of the photos that this mod left behind four holes (easily filled and refinished as this is on the tail end, black area). There is some tarnish on the bridge and pickup covers, otherwise, this guitar looks like it has been sitting in it's case since 79.

Thanks for your interest!
Jason

Forgot to mention the following:

I am located in London, Ontario, Canada.

The case has seen better days as you will notice in the last photo. All latches are in-tact but the covering needs to be glued down.

It looks very nice. Are you sure the pickups are original as they only have 2 adjustment screws vs. 3?

Thanks,
mk

And... the guitar has holes in it dude. When you say "easily"... for whom? It's easy for a luthier or woodcraftsman and they cost bucks. Don't get me wrong... it's a totally totally sweet axe but IMHO you can't just pass over holes in the guitar, a beautiful vintage guitar, like it's nothing. It's something. If I wanted to trade you my Les Paul, wouldn't you mind if I drilled holes in it before we made the swap? I think holes would be an issue then that you would seriously consider. I'm not posting this to be a wiseguy or to be mean or to attack you. I am just stating that holes in a guitar like this are more of an issue to some folks than you've indicated. To me, I'd take the guitar anyways because it's a beauty but it (holes)would be a major factor in the evaluation of it's worth. It's actually with good intentions that I tell you this so that hopefully, you're not disappointed if your swap doesn't go as smoothly as you wish. So, like I said, you have a beautiful beautiful guitar there. I certainly wouldn't mind having it, holes and all, but the repair wotk is a factor that I think you should give more consideration to. Maybe... get the work done, then try the swap/sale? Could work to your benefit in the long run. Some guys have the ability to do that type of work themselves and the holes won't phase them one bit but for the most part, that type of work is for SERIOUS pro's.

Hi Mk,

Thanks, I never thought to check! I took some photos. They read "Super 70s". Just looked a bit through the forum and found other AS-200s with Super 70's. So, pickups seem to be original stock but they are not 58s.

70s

Also found that there was a surface scratch I have not noticed until now :-( The blurry spots are my finger prints, the scratch is outlined in red for visibility.

Thanks Bobzilla,

I would certainly be willing to take this to a great luthier for repair for the right deal. No problems there, we have many great luthiers in this area.

And, to your point, my interest in a trade wouldn't be limited to a "mint" Les Paul.. it would be all depending on the holes in the Les Paul (no neck cracks, no floyd rose routes, ..). If a Bigsby was installed, then removed, I can live with that.

Just want to reiterate after reading Bobzilla's post again, I am not limiting myself to "collectors" Les Pauls. I am not looking for a guitar to hang on the wall. The Ibanez is too pretty for me and I am a player, not collector. If there is belt rash and neck wear on your Les Paul, send it my way :-)

I am looking for a *great* player with great tone and a balanced body/neck weight. I've played many 70-mid 90s Les Pauls that fit that description.

Nice guitar.

Two screw pickups can definitely be origianl on semi-hollows from this time period. There's one on ebay currently and have seen a couple myself.

That would be my last resort.. Not a big fan of the ebay and I would prefer to avoid that mess. I'm not in any rush either, I have a few nice guitars to play.

Why not bid here :-)

I would use a combination filling technique: 4 small dowels with Titebond to form the bottom of the holes, then a filler of maple sawdust and Titebond.
But getting the finish right, that's a delicate work.
Gibson has these touch-up pens, of which you could use the clear coat. But under that you need the right colour, now how do you call this brownish part of the sunburst? I guess you'd have to mix it yourself. Chocolate brown (pure not milk).

I read that some of us use clear nail polish, which could work (never tried it), and is surely much cheaper.

I think unless your an expert, leave it as is, a "hacked job" is like, no coming back, IMO, also, the new buyer could enlist a pro, cheers jazzz

Hi guys and gals,

Happy to report that I am the proud owner of a 75 Les Paul Deluxe (with factory full sized PAF type pickups) in amazing condition. The AS-200 is gone.

Thanks to all who replied!
