I have a 1977 Ibanez PF200 in vintage white that I'd like to find an original or reproduction pickguard for. I have the mounting bracket and screws, just no PG. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Chris |

Munch, Thanks so much for the pattern. Is there anyone you recommend I send it to? If I knew how to bevel the edges correctly I'd try it myself but I think I'd just end up with some expensive trash to throw away. Thanks again, Chris |

I made this PF200 pickguard from Munch's template. It didn't print out to the right size at 100%. It took a bit of resizing and fitting before I had the proper size. Print one out, carefully cut out the template, then fit it to your guitar before you actually cut the guard out. I bought raw stock from Warmoth. I still have some left, and since the one I made below is not perfect, I may do a second attempt. -Chuck |

Chuck, Thanks for posting the pic of your work. I think you did an outstanding job. Not to critique your work, but it looks like, from the pic that you had some inconsistencies with the beveling of the edges. And that's where I think the hardest part of this process lies. What tool do you use to give you the beveled edge? Thanks, Chris |

I used a sanding bit attached to my dremel tool. Freehand. I beveled the edge between the pickups against the instructions from the template because I have a regular Les Paul pickguard that has it done that way and it looks cool. If I make another for my guitar, I'll do it the right way. The edges on the one above are a little wavy. That being said, from five feet away, you can't tell it's handmade. |

Hi Chuck, Again, I think it looks pretty darn good! Hey, I was searching through the old messages on the forum for more info on the PF models. Aren't you the one who made that cool clear pickguard out of lexan? I understand about wanting to keep them original as possible, but that looked really nice. |

Yes, I did make that one. I made it so the flame top would come through. In the end, I went with the standard tortoise shell one for authenticity. |

The clear one is not perfect either. Especially the bevelled edge which came out pretty rough. I sanded it down a bit. See the pictures below. If you want it, I'll sell it to you for $10, free shipping (it will go by first class). I'll have to buy a sturdy cardboard envelope for it so it will be protected during shipment. If you're non-US, make it $12 because of the international postage. -Chuck |

Hi Chuck, thanks for the offer. Mine is just a plain old vintage white faded to a creamy yellow, so really nothing to show off such as your flamey maple cap. However, if you ever get around to making another vintage copy, I'd be willing to purchase your first attempt. Hey, maybe you could have a side business supplying all us poor saps with original appearing replacements? |
