Hey guys, I need a '76 harmonica bridge, preferably slightly pitted but not TOO pitted, for a '76 Weir restoration, with the larger threads that screw into the grommetts, as opposed to the smaller threads that screw into the sustain blocks. Anybody got one? Thanx! |

Is that why you outbid me for that one-piece cloud/tailpiece today, GW? Grrr. (All's fair in love and eBay, but dang, you went above my $126 for it!) Now my restoration of a 2619 will have to wait. |

I guess I need to come up with a new eBay name. |

Actually, I got that tailpiece just in case, If I can't find a used bridge that fits the character of the guitar, I'll find a NOS harmonica bridge, and swap them both out. I prefer to keep them old looking if I can. |

If I can get an old looking harmonica bridge (I think it's actually called the harmonomatic, per an e-mail I received) I'll sell you this one for my total price plus shipping that I paid for it, plus $5 to ship it to you. That way it's right in your range. I can't seem to e-mail people off these pages for some reason, so you'll have to e-mail me. |

Whisperer, If you use Hotmail (your email address shown on ICW is at hotmail) and Windows, - right click ICW username which is shown as a link on the left of posts, - select properties from the menu you get, copy the email address from properties list (or write it down), - paste email address to Hotmail's to-field (or type it). This works with other web based email services, too. Juha |

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you have any obligation or that I'm really upset. I really meant it when I said "all's fair in eBay". If I get the tailpiece, then I would buy the 2619, THEN I'd have to track down the pups I need. At the moment, it's not like I'm sitting here with a guitar I can't fix. Also, at the moment, there are some pups on eBay I want, but Cleversj is the high bidder on them right now. Maybe we all need new eBay ID's so we can be "friends" here and then secret sniping ninja Ibanez hunters on eBay. (That's an attempt to be funny, too.) -Chuck |

Guys, "All's fair in love and eBay". I'm kinda scratching my head. I'm a new guy and not familiar w/ protocol at all. Help me out if you will. If you're on this board and someone wants something on eBay but you NEED that same thing (or visa versa) is there any courtesy extended? Something tells me there's some of that but not always. Maybe I'm just an idiot but if I was a winning bidder and I saw Chucke99 take 2nd to something he needed I just wouldn't feel right. At the very least I'd conspire with him away from the board and figure out what we should do. I'd be very grateful for your thoughts. |

No no. I got second because I wasn't willing to bid higher than I did. (That, and GW is just plain crazy. I wonder what his snipe bid max was.) Technically, collusion on bidding (someone agreeing NOT to bid so someone else gets a better price) is not allowed in auctions, though I looked and there's nothing specific about it in the eBay rules. I was really just ribbing GW a bit for outbidding me. As I said, if I got that tailpiece, I then have to actually buy the guitar to put it onto, so it's not like it's something I've been searching for forever, like a Korina V. I still may bid on the Super 80 pups, even though Cleversj (Jack) is bidding too. But I've got less of an incentive until another tailpiece comes along. (The guy who has the guitar I want doesn't seem to be able to sell it so it will be there for a while.) |

Besides, GW couldn't have known it was me until after the auction, and even at that point, I'm "chucke99" here, but "cevans999" on eBay. And honestly, I almost never look at the bidder list before I bid on something. |

I know that Chucke99 is just ribbing me, I think it's cool! That's kinda part of the fun! I get to win all the items I bid on, they get to call me crazy 'cuz it seems like I always overpay, although I did get that AR500 at a reasonable price. Too bad it arrived broken , now I have to fix it. Luckily I insured it, so I'll be reimburesed for the cost of the repair, which should cover the depreciated value. Should be an awesome player when I'm done, and it still has value (I hope!) since they only made about 1500 of those things total. I was just kidding about getting a new eBay name. I've had lots of fun being ribbed by guys that lost auctions 'cuz of me . (Although my wife's not having NEAR as much fun as I am ) |

Chucke, I think Mr. Ibanez has the NOS parts I need to restore my Weir, So I'll be keeping the tailpiece. If I'da got an old looking harmonica bridge, I really wouldn't have minded flipping it over to you, it wouldn't have been out of guilt. I agree, "All's fair in love and eBay!" |

Grateful, courtesy may be extended, but is not required, it really just depends on how people feel right then. I for one don't expect people to pass on stuff, just because I ask them too, but if they do, I appreciate it, if they can't or won't, I underdstand, I just have to weigh how much I'd be willing to blow on any particular item. For instance, I set my max bid on that tailpiece at $200, but then again, I don't plan on selling these things for a good long while, so hopefully they'll appreciate in value. I make my living doing instrument repair, setup, and maintenance, as well as modifications, and custom builds, so these Ibanezes for me right now are kind of a hobby. I like restoring guitars to their original condition, and making them right, so to me, I might be willing to spend a little more on parts than other people might be, 'cuz that's my passion. I hope Mr. Ibanez doesn't read this and hike his price! I DO have a limit as to what I'll spend! |

Oh I didn't mean to stir it up with you guys but I gotcha. It was much more a concept question. It sounds like GW and I mixing it up could get pretty ugly. |

gw, thanks for the purchase of the bridge. no worry on price hikes, its the same price as i charged 5 years ago and have no intention of escalating. these are old stock parts and when they are gone, thats it. |
