I have super 70's in my AS100 that somebody prior to me buying it drilled holes for different pickups. Fortunately, the super 70's are back in it, however, I have an extra hole drilled in my rings.

Help please.

Stacey

Hi Stacey,

I put the same ask up as you a few days back. There is a extra hole drilled between the outer two on the bass side in both my pickup rings. However, I wanted to fit some old Super 70's in the guitar (twin adjustment).

Being as the rings are buggered now anyway and it may take a while to get a new set, I decided to fix up the surrounds best I could.

I plugged the two outer holes with a plastic bung, cut off the excess and polished it down with some really fine worn out paper. Then I polished the whole surround with my Dremel. It doesn't look too bad.

You should be able to do the same with the center hole on your surrounds assuming you have 3 point adjustment Super 70's back in the guitar.

That's close enough Jazz. Also, where I come from in England we say things like "Bung (pass) that newspaper over here will ya."

Six,

Thanks for the tip...

Yes, I have the original three screw Super 70's in the guitar. At some point (previuos owner) changed the pickups to two screw pickups and drilled new holes.

So, do you think Hoshino has any new old stock pickup rings? Do you think I am out of luck unless somebody has some they would sell?

Thanks,

Stacey

We'll probably have a long wait. I even tried the black rings off my Weir on the PF to see if they fit. The trouble is, these 3 hole rings appear to be a tad wider than normal 2 hole rings so the 4 mounting holes on the body don't line up.

I tried some after market rings and some rare 'white' Ibanez rings that I bought years ago and none of them fit.

That's why I decide to fill the holes in. No loss really.

Sabeking, You can get a plastic filler putty used for repairing auto dashes. Would work very good to fill extra holes. Off topic. I need super 70 rigs for my PF400. Is there a possibility that the newer Ibanez models equipped with 58's will fit? Are the newer 58's about the same size as the Super 70's.

Cheers, M.
