Hello, I'm looking for a gold plated st bridge for my '81 model AS200. Should be in acceptable condition (no corrosion). Tuning machine knobs would be appreciated as well. TIA Dave |

Dave: You have to be careful about these ST bridges; there are several versions. The most common have large posts and anchors, thus the holes in the bridge are larger diameter. If your AS200 has the same bridge as mine, the posts are small diameter threaded posts with only a thumbscrew for adjusting height. Here's a link to a message I wrote regarding my predicament finding the correct ST bridge: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=12&post=23377#POST23 377 |

Does anyone know if the 2000 Gibralter II stop tail bridge fits the '81. Looks like Ibanez still carries them according to their website parts page.

John: That is a very helpful hint indeed, thank you. I didn't notice that before, but another (chrome plated) bridge I found recently has the big holes you mentioned - see the picture. I definitely need the one with the smaller holes. (Sorry for the crappy picture) My original bridge also has 6 small slits in the bottom of the bridge below each of the screws, which the chrome plated bridge doesn't have. Dave. |

Tim, the Gibralter II has fairly large diameter locking mounting posts, and will not fit the '81 AS200 without modification. It's too bad, the GII is a much better bridge IMO. Dave, I have not done any measurements, but I wonder if a TonePros would fit? It would be an improvement over the stock bridge. -Sven |

Just did some measurements on my '80 AS200. It looks like the TonePros T3BP will be a perfect fit. stud spacing is 2.913" and post dia is .156" http://www.tonepros.com/TonePros%20Specs.pdf I don't think these old ST bridges are anything proprietary to Ibanez. They look to me like the common tunomatic which probably came from one of the big suppliers. |

How about the bridge of the John Scofield signature model? http://www.ibanez.com/parts/2004_PARTS/el_guitar/parts/2GB1G510G.html Anybody been trying that on an AS200? |

Dave: The posts look right. I'll try to find out what the dimensions are. |

That JSM bridge looks about right. And it has locking saddles too. I am tempted to try one out. Anyone have a JSM that can send us some measurements? |

If the JSM or Tone-Pros fits, that would be great! I had the Gilbralter II retrofitted to my 2630 years ago before the newer bridges were available. (Trying to keep it 'IBZ' parts.) Better options seem to be available these days. |

The JSM bridge I ordered came last week (took about one month to get to me). It fits perfectly on the existing posts (new posts are included) and it has the big advantage that each saddle's height can be adjusted individually (tool also included). The problem is that the new gold plating just doesn't look good side to side with the existing pickup covers and tailpiece. I missed the end of the auction for the NOS ST bridge that was on ebay last week (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7378796199) but am still looking for one, which means if anyone is interested in a brand new unused JSM bridge... I wanted to replace the bridge because it's heavily oxidated and the saddles are worn out, but I might just renew the saddles. Has anybody done that before? Dave. |
