Dear All: I have a very unique bass for sale, that I have owned for quite some time. It is an Ibanez SRE400, which was a prototype for the Ergodyne series basses. This is a black bass that LOOKS like a Soundgear bass body, yet the sides and back are ergonomically curved like the Ergodyne series. The body is luthite, but painted black like they painted the wood bodies. This bass in in EXCELLENT condition, and very playable. Electronics are the same as the EGB400 basses, no surprise there! The SRE300 prototype with lower quality electronics originally sold for $549, so this series was around $600-700 new. Here is a quote acquired a few years ago from Ibanez Japan concerning this bass: "The SRE400 was available only to the USA, Canada, Mexico and Australia (however we did not bring it into Australia). This model was available for 6 months in 1997 and did not appear in any catalogues as it was a "spot production model" which means it a small run of maybe 100 to 150 units. Now the interesting part, the body of this guitar is made of Luthite, it was made in order to try the Luthite material out before beginning the production of the Ergodyne Bass series. So there you go, yet another mystery solved, and congrats on owning yet another bit of Ibanez research and development." There was a whole topic posted here some years ago that others helped me run down the vintage and lineage of this bass posted here along with some photos: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/discus/messages/652/5061.html?1061842098 In short, I am willing to sell for $500 SHIPPED FREE in the continental U.S., or best offer. Will include a used hard case (non Ibanez) for free as well. Please email me if interested. Serious inquiries only, and yes, I am wise to the international shipping scams (so don't bother). Thanks, Tailgate |
