First you wrote you wanted back the $550.= you paid for it, as it was complete and now you're offering the wood for $1,000.=???
Here is the value of a 2405 Custom Agent in a good condition:

BCRB

I can put this guitar back together with original hardware but not for a $1000 AU starting price. I honestly don't think it's worth $3000 AU even with the hardware on it. Despite there being some serious collectors in Oz, I would argue that there just isn't that much demand here in Australia for the vintage Ibanez range.

In my humble opinion of course.

I wouldn't pay $3000 for it but i did consider keeping it for the collection. I have just managed to secure 3 vintage neck through bc richs and need the room but if the custom agent doesn't sell which from the messages recieved indicates otherwise I might just keep it? Having the 26 and 24 in the collection might make sense as an
investment for the future.

BC,

I think, the intentions of your offer to John were fair.
The form you put your offer to John in, was perhaps wrong.
I think, when you'd give it in commission at a net price of €550.= and John would offer it on this website (at no cost because it's his own),
it might perhaps take a while, but it would sell.

Indeed, keeping them both makes sense as an investment for the future. It also made sense to complete the best of the two, because the value increase of a completed 2675 exceeds the value decrease of the 2405. At least you have LOGO pickups now.
The 2675 pickguard is hard to find, Dave said, but it's basically a 2405 pickguard minus the lower scroll.
- You could use it as a temporary solution, leaving the lower scroll on.
- You could use it after you jigsaw the lower scroll off, using an original 2675 pickguard as a template, and finish it with a special pickguard milling cutter from www.stewmac.com
(but then you can't put it back on!)
- You could use it as a template to have a new one made (look at the pictures in the Custom Agent thread)
Perhaps this firm can help realizing a copy, though I didn't see any CA pickguards yet:
http://pickguards.us/index.html
- You could temporarily use a transparent pickguard like the 2675 John was playing in the picture, and wait for another original Custom Agent pickguard (might take a long time). But it's such a beautiful sight, through that pickguard.

Why would you hurry? First complete the 2675CA. Then start looking for the same LOGO pickups (perhaps on cheaper models) and rebuild the 2405. If you kept the scroll on and had a copy made, you can put the pickguard back on.
If they are both ready, they represent a total value of $6,000.= (USD) or even more in the future. We've seen a 2675CA go for $4827.= and a 2405CA goes for about $1200.= - $1450.= if original and complete.

Greetz,
