Trade?
You must be kidding, man!
Your axe is worth $1600 more than the thinlines you're after.

Do you have the skills to restore it? Then do so, and sell... sell well!
You could buy a Japan AS180/200 and an AM50/205 and have some money left (certainly if you go for chrome instead of gold).

oh really, how much do the 2460 go for? The label inside the f-hole has a hand signuture. Is that rare? the pickup covers are wielded on the pickups so how do i replace the pickup covers? do you know anyone that wants a 2460. Its a great guitar that i got from my grandpa, i just like little smaller guitars to play.

thank you

Ibanez2640:

One of these sold last month on ebay for $2800.00. But it was a true lawsuit model, so it probably got a premium price because of that. Here's the ebay URL, so you can see it:

http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=1802666&mpre=ht tp%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D320024375731

A '77 would probably still be worth more than a early AS200. But prices on ebay are getting wacky, lately. Defintely worth much more than the AS180 and lower models.

Don't worry about the pickup covers. The guitar will not be worth anymore if you do try to replace them.

I'd be surprised if you haven't been contacted by interested buyers already.

John,

I was talking about RESTORING, not replacing.
As you will remember we discussed the possibility of corrosion of the whole wiring, because Tyson wrote that his wiring had turned green.

So Tyson I mean, first measuring the resistance in bridge and neck position. Roughly about 8 KOhm is good. And if it's very high, measure the individual wires. Their resitance should be 0 (zero). Replace every wire that show any resistance (caused by corrosion). And spray the potmeters with contact spray. Make sure that it is functioning properly.
Try to polish the corroded covers as good as possible with a fine microfibre cloth and a non- abrasasive polish.
Same goes for your tailpiece and tuners and pickguard bracket.
When you're ready, upload some pics of the results to the HOLLOW AND SEMI-HOLLOW BODY topic (thread: Cleaning my 2460 L-5CES model or something) NOT AN AD but as an apetizer, and to this thread in the FREE CLASSIFIEDS.

Good luck,

Ginger

Sounds like it's not so bad after all.

Of course I'd like to see them.
And anyone who has a 2460 on his shopping list I guess. Please try to upload them.

It is done about like this:

You type:
backslashimage{picturedescription}
picturedescription

Then you type your username and password and click for the preview

Then you see this YOUR IMAGE picture, don't worry that's OK.

Then you click POST THIS MESSAGE

And then you scroll to your <50 KB JPEG file of your 2460 on your harddisk and click open (or press Enter).

And then you click POST THIS MESSAGE again and you're ready, I guess.

Good luck,

Ginger

Tyson,

I forgot to mention one thing, and that's to click the UPLOAD button after you opened your JPEG.

Details, details... it's always about details.
Now I want a cup of coffee!

BTW, this was the Aria Pro II PE-180NT that sold for €1250.- and that is identical to my L-1000. But the L-1000 has an extra MOP inlay in the back of the headstock. He's far better with the digital camera than I am. I hate the HP we've laying around here. I use a real camera with films an Olympus Miu... I guess that will soon be vintage too...
I reduced the KB size in Corel Photo House.

That Gimp program was recommended by Chip magazine. I haven't installed it, but I figured you'd like a good freeware. But I must say I didn't try to download it myself. I'm used to Corel and Ulead.

If you look at the PE-180, you see it is a hybrid between the L-5CES and the Super 400.
Look sepcially at the neck inlays and the headstock size. Gibson called this hybrid Super V
It's a very long guitar. It's difficult to find a case for it.
The 2460 is a pure L-5CES replica. And yes, it exists in natural finish too. Did you know that Gibson charges many thousands of dollars extra for the natural colour? An extra reason to buy a good replica.

Sometime ago a saved this picture of a 1976 Ibanez 2460NT. The price was 2000 euro. (Guild headstock)

By the way: did you manage to get that Gimp program working or did you use another software?

I really like the natural 2460. I would like to get one of those for sure. Is it hard to find a natural one? I might just want to keep my brown sunburst and try to get a 2460 collection going. What type of pickups are in this things. I know there super 58 or 78 or somthing like that. I rebemer super bieing on the pickups. ginger i find a photo editor called (photo express) cd in my room so i used that. I dont like it. Would you recomend something better?

It's an expensive guitar. (the last one on the bay went for $2800.-) I copied this pic from an auction and cut it to size with Corel Photo House, which is a part of Corel WordPerfect8 Suite. In the later versions of the Suite it disappeared. I installed it on the Mrs' laptop, which is the internet computer. My workstations are standalones that have no permanent connection to the web for security reasons. I have lots of older licenses due to my profession. I was very enthusiastic about this WordPerfect 8 (office) suite because there was a Language Module available for 100 guilders which contained 34 languages. MicroSoft charged 240 guilders per language.

With one of the magazines I acquired ULead Morphing Studio, which contains an Image Editor,
which is nice for manipulating pictures.
With the combination of these two, I designed my own business logo.

If you have Linux WordPerfect Suite 8 is available for free. It came on CD-ROM with several Computer Magazines.

JohnS also referred to some image editor in some other thread. I don't remember what it was, but it will be more modern than the old stuff I use.
It was freeware, that I know...

I have a 1976 randy scruggs model 2671 and am contemplating selling it. When I got it some things had been replaced like the pickups, which are now duncans, and the tuning machines. It has some body damage, mostly on the side and back, the top still looks stunning. This is a true players guitar. If someone is looking for a flawless one, this isn't it. However this guitar still blows away any les paul I've ever played. I'd like to know what you guys think would be a reasonable price to ask for it. Thanks
